Rationality plays courtesan to charisma

The ongoing global financial crisis has brought out in the open many fault lines of corporate functioning. One of them is lack of diversified business models. Single commodity companies might become multibaggers during a growth period, but run the risk of going bust when consumer preference alters. The sorry spectacle of industry honchos making a beeline for bailout packages is disconcerting.

Further, lack of democratically elected management fosters a feudal milieu with the potential of concealing Satyam like festers. As long as rationality plays courtesan to charisma, this lacuna, of course, is difficult to mend. [TNM] 11:50 AM
