Harboring “inflated expectations” is hallmark of youth, and that is how the world runs and all adventure occurs. Midlife crisis triggers more realistic assessments, and cynicism sets in in many cases. These are bitter facts of life. Heehs, Banerji, or Mohrhoff would not have ventured to write what they are writing today twenty years earlier. So, blame the present crisis on age. [TNM]
