Sraddhalu Ranade’s (sraddhalu@auromail.net Date: 2009/5/3) Open Letter To Auroville and Centres (in reply to IYF allegations) dated 1st May 2009 is a painstaking enterprise that pleads, canvasses, and clarifies as well. But the following bland affirmation becomes doubtful in view of his visits to Cuttack in the recent past.
[Court cases: Neither Alok nor I have the competence or the resources to handle court cases. Contrary to IYF’s claims, neither of us is responsible for them, and neither do we have a say in their withdrawal.]
He also mentions the stand of Manoj Das as follows which may not reflect the whole truth.
[Manoj Das, former Trustee, SAAT, and Sahitya Academy Award winner, in October 2008. After reading the entire book he identified 60 of the most offensive passages which he read out to the Ashram Trust Board, recommending that the Ashram dissociate publicly from the book and take all steps to withdraw the book.]
Overall, he might have produced a well substantiated case against the book, but his juvenile zeal to force his own reading upon everyone else is a tad curious. [TNM]
