Politics is short term religion

Lohia once said, "Politics is short term religion and religion is long term politics," Bhai Vaidya reminded. The hierarchy of castes has undergone substantial changes and hence the methodology must see commensurate modification, opined Dhirubhai Sheth. Satish Jain (JNU) proposed a curious thesis that emergence of Democratic Socialism is indigenous which ensued basically from Gandhi. This Gandhigenous view, obviously, sought to downplay the role of all preceding movements and was contested. Chandan Srivastav (CSDS)'s assertion that theory of evolution is absent in Indian thought reflected lack of acquaintance with The Life Divine by Sri Aurobindo. [TNM]
