Questionable conduct of the Managing Trustee

[AP govt may tap Sai trust's assets after takeover PPavan, Mumbai Mirror, Friday, June 24, 2011 at 03:05:18 AM
Andhra Pradesh government is studying Pondicherry’s Aurobindo Ashram model to control the Sai trust. Under the Aurobindo Ashram model, a government nominee (an IAS officer) is appointed to oversee the trusts’s affairs. … Confirming that the state government is considering replicating Aurobindo model in Sathya Sai Trust, a senior minister said, “We are under obligation to respect the sentiments of devotees, continue Trust activities and control any irregularities.”]

After the Satyam scam, the Sathya Sai Trust mess might prove to be another embarrassment. Replicating the Auroville model there might provide immediate relief, but will aggravate in the long run. One shudders at the thought of possible malpractices of Sri Aurobindo Ashram coming to light some day. The book imbroglio has thoroughly exposed the questionable conduct of the Managing Trustee and he has been deaf to persistent demands of transparency and accountability. A conspiracy of silence too is at work. So, the whistle blowers should grow in number. [TNM55]
