Savitri Era Party wants Heehs removed

Peter Heehs has been spearheading a systematic vilification campaign against his fellow residents of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry for more than three years through half-a-dozen websites. Apart from his about a dozen known supporters, many anonymous elements vent their anger in choicest prose. The fault of these victims is that they opposed Heehs’ book and publicized their resentment. That these scholars have also the freedom to express themselves was never appreciated by Heehs. Rather, a racial superiority bordering on colonial loathing marked his dealings.

The Ashram provided the infrastructure and all the resources for writing the book, and yet Heehs, though a resident, claimed that the Ashram is not responsible for the contents. This deceptive delinking and imagined freedom is the root cause of all subsequent perversions. In fact, no such unyoking is possible at any instant, and to give a trivial example, most males long for such occasional escapes from the tyranny of monogamy.

If Heehs, avowedly, has abdicated his responsibility to protect the dignity of the Ashram and serve its interests by writing this book, he should accept the fact that he has become unwanted within his community. Whether Heehs stays in India or in America is immaterial. Savitri Era Party demands that he is removed from Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry forthwith. [TNM55]
