Of
many criticisms of Sri Aurobindo, his portrayal of various events and persons
in a creative fashion is the most obvious. The general complain is his broad
stokes of historical narrative often shows up wide gaps in contour upon close
scrutiny. Nevertheless, his overall theoretical thrust and future vision has been
appreciated and accepted by a galaxy of critical observers.
When
Sri Aurobindo carries us from near to far into the unknown vista of the future,
insisting on mapping the lanes and by
lanes is, understandably, absurd. Even in his ontological speculations
also, Sri Aurobindo avoids any rigid Dantesque
framework or definite numbers. This in keeping with his theory of
multiple truths dovetailing or telescoping into each other depending upon the
sweep of the horizon. [TNM55]
