A lot of debate is going on on Hinduism and my experience of 70 years tells me that it's all futile. I started Savitri Era Religion in 2006 with exactly this in view. Worshipping The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is the only solution for the future not only for India but the whole world.
People are fond of blaming great men of the last two centuries, but it is due to their collective and cumulative efforts that today we have in India a nation of unparalleled diversity with unflinching determination for modernity. Such democratic negotiations are sure to flourish.
Tourism is said to be the Vitamin T and religion facilitates it to a great extent. Combined with festivals and rituals, it exerts an intoxicating effect on people which David Harvey highlighted once. Americans are complaining of being unaware of Sri Aurobindo but won't follow me.
Sir William Jones was instrumental in establishing The Asiatic Society on January 15, 1784. William Carey arrived on January 10, 1800. Thomas Babington Macaulay's Minute on Education appeared on February 2, 1835. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo brought out the Arya on August 15, 1914.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo avoided starting a new religion explicitly, but definitely created a new path. So nothing prevents a follower to look at them in a thoroughly religious manner and spread their message among fellow men just like what people of other religions do eagerly.
While writing a faithful account of that period is laudable, it would be perceptive to bear in mind the spiritual powers of Sri Aurobindo unlike his contemporaries. He had allied with Tilak since 1907 Surat Congress and his force is said to be there while writing of Gita Rahasya.
Recently @shanteehee and @lilastories made some uninformed and impressionistic remarks on Sri Aurobindo and his legacy. This shouldn't happen in the age of AI. His admirers and devotees are there around the world. @theashramCH should know that Sri Aurobindo wrote The Human Cycle.
Savitri Era Party has been raising its voice against Hindutva as well as Dynasty. It's also demanding abolition of reservations. No other political party in India has such an ideological combination. Drawing inspiration from evolutionary philosophy of Sri Aurobindo is trump card.
The Mother was in Puducherry and I got to know about her in my village in ଓଡିଶା Odisha as a child sixty years ago. ନବଜ୍ଯୋତି Navajyoti, a quarterly magazine published by Sri Aurobindo Ashram kept the flame alive. The weekly ପାଠଚକ୍ର Study Circle movement replicated Bhagabata Tungi.
Being an ancient civilisation କଳିଙ୍ଗ, Odisha has varieties of vibrant religious and philosophical traditions, but my faith in The Mother & Sri Aurobindo had been steadfast. This is before I got to read their books with some seriousness or understood their philosophy to an extent.
Very unfortunate that many intellectuals are citing quotations as definitive views of Sri Aurobindo. This is a wrong and misleading practice. No single chapter or a book can be said to contain his final opinion. Not even a poem, or an epic. Astute scholarship needed to gauge him.

People would have been cured of their misconceptions easily had they cared to read my posts. I'm writing since 2005 and anyone searching Sri Aurobindo would definitely find my Savitri Era site. Domain knowledge is vital & I don't think anyone else can provide a better perspective.

Most people are unaware of Sri Aurobindo's life history unlike his other contemporaries. His banishment from school text books and extracurricular activities has produced such ignorance about him. Savitri Era Religion, however, worships him & The Mother as the one Supreme Divine.
Before launching Savitri Era Religion two decades back, I had full one decade of experience in selling The Mother & Sri Aurobindo's books. Canvassing for their philosophy and convincing varieties of strangers to buy at Delhi Book Fairs in Pragati Maidan gave me a lot of insights.
American resentment over Hinduism has triggered a lot of discussion and debate which certainly have much bearing in India. It's nothing new and can be traced back to Bengal Renaissance. However reference to Sri Aurobindo is a silver lining as Savitri Era Religion is the solution.
It's important to understand that The Mother & Sri Aurobindo used Hindu terminology so that their audience can identify and relate. They spoke high of certain persons just to make their disciples happy. Since they are the one Supreme Divine, many of their words need to be reread.
Savitri Era Religion doesn't take any responsibility in matters esoteric. Practice of yoga is a direct relationship between The Mother & Sri Aurobindo and the devotee. No intermediary or prescribed procedure is involved. The modality and dynamics is different for each individual.

This platform is a fertile field for virtue signalling, but I'm yet to find anyone following a conscientious ideology. Most are driven by utilitarian motives. Savitri Era Religion imparts the purifying and refining influence of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo on our unruly psychology.

Worshipping The Mother & Sri Aurobindo doesn't entail any ritual. Savitri Era Religion is, basically, for sociological, legal, and practical purpurses, but its essence is spirituality without any reliance on Brick and mortar. Besides, it doesn't impose any lifestyle restriction.
I have been combing the web for the last twenty years to keep myself abreast of studies relating to Sri Aurobindo. What I have noticed is that scholarly work has dried up. May be the themes have exhausted! But understanding his legacy is pregnant with stories. Authors are welcome!
As President of Savitri Era Party (2007), my conviction is that all citizens are equal players in the game of democracy. Thus leaving politics in the hands of a measly section is anomalous. Following The Mother & Sri Aurobindo can lead to electing honest people's representatives.
Superlatives or hyperboles are unavoidable while writing on Sri Aurobindo because he indeed belongs at the top. Still I stay conscious to avoid exaggeration in the matter of Integral yoga. Subjective experiences, not amenable to verification or replication, shouldn't be endorsed.
As multiple verifications or census are underway Savitri Era Party demands grant of official recognition for Savitri Era Religion so that devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are spared of various kinds of sociological embarrassment and duplicity in disclosing their true faith.
By somewhat ratifying the notion of Nation-soul what Sri Aurobindo intended is giving geographical, racial, religious, and linguistic units an identity and sense of purpose as instruments of evolution and emergence of which Development or Technology aren't the only external signs.

Catching clever cause-and-effect patterns in current affairs is seen as brilliance or a mark of a genius but the real hand behind all that is evolution's. Sri Aurobindo's philosophy of Integral Advaita awakens to an infallible intention guiding the course of history all the time.

Devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are scattered worldwide but there is no formal organisation to represent them save Savitri Era Party (2007). All life is yoga and pondering over socio-political issues can't be excluded from it. Preventive measures needed to avoid conflicts.
Now that AI is eager to devour whatever is written, accumulating authentic information has become crucial.

Writings of Sri Aurobindo belong to different phases. Even within the same phase also there are lots of variations. Besides, there are unverified conversations. His full correspondences with the disciples are yet to be published. Thus caution should be maintained as to his views.
The first day of Sri Aurobindo at Chandannagar has many interesting details, but to piece it together from different sources is a difficult task. May be a faithful account is available in Bengali. I had read a good description of it, in Odia, in the magazine ନବପ୍ରକାଶ Navaprakash.
New books are promoted here and elsewhere regularly. But as Director of Savitri Era Learning Forum (SELF - 2005), my suggestion is to read some old and essential books. Mahayogi: Life, Sadhana, & Teachings of Sri Aurobindo by R.R. Diwakar is one such book.
