Let there be no confusion that Savitri Era Religion was founded by Tusar Nath Mohapatra (b. 1956) in 2006. It has a distinct philosophy and ontology from what was originally taught by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Savitri Era Learning Forum and Savitri Era Party are allied outfits.
As a rebel Sri Aurobindo talked about transcending the scientific view of the world and seeking spiritual realities via yoga. But this opens floodgates for frauds, quacks, and imposters. Commercial interests mushroom in collective activities. Savitri Era Religion advises caution.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have expressed poor opinion about politics at places, and hence, their devotees and followers consider politics as dirty. But the same people consider lotus symbol as resembling The Mother's symbol and quietly vote for BJP. This is a pathetic situation!
The writings of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are writings which compete in the marketplace of ideas for prescience and relevance. They are not self-evident truth, automatically. Savitri Era Religion worships them as the one Supreme Divine but does not assure about results of yoga.
The last seventy years have taught me that worshipping The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is the best solution. I gave the name Savitri Era Religion in 2006 since it is essential for legal and sociological purposes. With coherent philosophy it provides freedom from mythology and rituals.
Pasting quotations from The Mother & Sri Aurobindo in social media amounts to a great deal of virtue signaling. Thus persons should be judged by their opinions on other matters where they show their true colours. Savitri Era Party aspires for harmony and not hatred. #FiveDreams
Savitri Era Religion encourages devotees to build their own relationship with The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, independently, without any reliance on any institution or individual. No fixed method of practice or rituals are involved in this exercise. Only love, loyalty, and surrender.
Reading the books of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is the only way for developing the right kind of mental framework for the modern world. Apart from philosophy, psychology, or yoga, lots of literature in the form of poetry, plays, and literary criticsm are also part of their works.
Accessing the spiritual planes of consciousness, as explained by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, is not possible for all. Worshipping them as the one Supreme Divine, therefore, is the preliminary step as proposed by Savitri Era Religion (2006). No fixed method of practice or rituals.
Meetings and conferences relating to The Mother & Sri Aurobindo along with art and music shows are a common feature. All these reflect the Integral nature of their vision and spread awareness and education. Yoga and Healing camps are also becoming popular.
Apart from yoga and spirituality, the greatest contribution of Sri Aurobindo is an alternative vision and narrative, as encapsulated in his #FiveDreams Manifesto (1947). Savitri Era Party (2007) interprets this as opposition to BJP as well as Congress, for the present scenario.
It is not difficult to write scholarly articles on Sri Aurobindo by quoting passages from his writings on various themes. AI has made the task yet easier. But the real challenge is to go beyond textual understanding and present actual intent. Integral outlook is essential for it.
The Mother and Sri Aurobindo met on March 29, 1914 which is the most important event on our planet. Worshipping them as the one Supreme Divine who are always present in their three poises is the most important task at present. No comparison, no elaborate analysis of their action.
Sri Aurobindo started publishing some articles in Bengali in a journal called Dharma ধৰ্ম্ম, before migrating to Puducherry. It's interesting to note that these writings on the Veda, Upanishads and Gita contain in seed form what he developed later in Arya.
India saw partition in 1947. It adopted a Constitution in 1950 incorporating caste and perpetuating discrimination. Nehru inaugurated a dynasty the ill effects of which continues. So India has been deprived of true democracy and equality. Savitri Era Party aspires to remedy this.
History wars go on nonstop here and it's difficult to distinguish between history and legends or even mythology. All literary creations are thrown into the muddle. Movie plots are making things more complicated. Savitri Era Religion (2006) is an honest attempt to reject mythology.
Thomas Babington Macaulay (1800–1859) and Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay (1838–1894) were being discussed recently who have seminal contributions to the building of modern India, we see today. The role of Christianity and Western philosophy is immense in constructing our mentality.
Principles of ethics are clear and simple. Citizens of India must uphold them for protecting democracy. Nothing becomes right just because a big crowd is supporting it. Sri Aurobindo is the only symbol of ethics in the whole of humanity. Savitri Era Party encourages to follow him.
Accusing others has become normal whereas the right approach is to look into the defects of one's own ideology or methodology. Electoral success shouldn't be construed as a ratification of any ideology. Democracy and modernity can't be sacrificed at the altar of religious hubris.
People in UP were voting for the Congress. Then they started voting for various versions of Janata Party. For a time they favoured the Bahujan Samaj. Now they are voting for BJP. So, no one should take it for granted that people have become their own. They will shift before long.
Roller-coaster journey of Western philosophy is an excellent historical record of how human intellect has struggled over the centuries in search of truth. Grappling with political or economic issues also add realism to the whole quest. Finally, Sri Aurobindo provides the answers.
Each person is free to interpret the teachings of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo according to his or her understanding and need. Although, I was conversant with it from an early age, I started Savitri Era Religion at the age of fifty. Obviously, life's experience teaches many things.
Videos and podcasts have become common and reading is being relegated to the background. Savitri Era Religion worships The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the one Supreme Divine and to understand them some amount of reading is necessary. Further reciting Savitri creates Mantric effect.
