Debate on Same-sex marriage and Cousin marriage is going on. Prospect of Population decline is turning ominous. Sex plays a critical role in genetic conservation and preservation of human species. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo's view on this basic biological function is restrictive.
When I search Sri Aurobindo in @GoogleIndia, results from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, etc are shown but not from Google's own Blogger or Blogspot. This is really strange! Similarly results from News, Books, or Scholars too are absent. Integrated results for 24 hours needed.
Just after switching on my Tablet, when I'm about to open Google News, Google Photos sends me a notification to take a look at a new memory. They can send it a bit later when I'm done with urgent tasks, so that I enjoy the photos in a leisurely mood. But how to advise algorithms?
Books of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo published by the Ashram in Puducherry constitute an alternative narrative. Anyone reading them is bound to be impressed by the authors. Being benefitted by them is an individual choice. But not to neglect or ignore them is a national challenge.
Many misconceptions and prejudices against The Mother float around and hence her modern ideas are rarely appreciated. I don't know how far this has been addressed in her recent biography by Peter Heehs. All may not worship her as Supreme Divine but must give her credit where due.
Modern advertising has developed complex strategies and raising controversies before a product is launched is one. Modi and RSS have also employed dedicated detractors to write against them so that their supporters close ranks. Thus, it's hard to believe anyone on this platform.
To say, "being a dedicated engineer is like being a Rishi," is exactly what Max Weber had described as Protestant ethic in 1918. It's also no different from the All life is yoga enunciated by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. However, exploitation in the Marxian sense is also involved.
Many will agree that the "opinion of any desi officer in any government agency is almost never going to be fair and unbiased." Here again superiority of Christian upbringing comes to the fore and how British colonialism was part of the evolutionary plan for Sri Aurobindo's advent
Vishal Mangalwadi has written a series of books on Christian ethical paradigm the historical role of which is undeniable. The Bible’s Amazing Impact on Our World, The Father Of Modern India: William Carey, and The Bible and the Making of Modern India, etc.
Dr. Joshua Thangaraj Gnanasekar has authored an excellent paper titled, Biblical Nationalism and the Making of Modern India: A Historical and Ideological Inquiry, based on the works of Dr. Vishal Mangalwadi. It refutes Nehruvian secularism to exhibit how the Bible is the source.
Self-management is a prominent theme in The Mother & Sri Aurobindo's path. Therefore, many devotees prefer to confine themselves within personal concerns. Decency and politeness also demands not to transgress own boundaries. But, ours is a collective yoga with Life Divine as aim.
For people of my generation when there was no Internet, newspaper columnists were like gods. It was one-sided communication and their moral positions were so accurate that no one could find any fault with them. Dhiren Bhagat died young. Others, one by one!

The Constitution of India envisages some representatives being elected by the citizens, through periodic elections. But certain religious persons speak on behalf of the people without taking the trouble of being elected. This is undemocratic and unethical. Dharma demands mandate!
For evolution, the path is as important as the result. In fact, there's no ultimate result since it's too distant. Looking at the history of India since March 29, 1914 when The Mother met Sri Aurobindo it's apparent how their Integral philosophy is becoming more and more relevant
Surfeit of Webinars caused meltdown to many during lockdown . Now that Podcasts are mushrooming, it's instructive to listen to Vishal Mangalwadi @Mangalwadi_V for brooming our brains. Remembering William Carey along with Raja Ram Mohan Roy is important.
While Savitri Era Religion champions morality, it's difficult to expect it from all devotees. This is true for all religions. However, Modernity, Democracy, Capitalism, etc. have grown on the strength of Christian ethics and we are all beneficiaries of it.
Apart from spreading English, Christian Missionaries were also responsible of development of Bengali, Hindi, and other Indian languages. The Asiatic Society, established by Sir William Jones in 1784, predates The Theosophical Society by almost a century.
Gandhi was mentioned in the context of Civil disobedience but Sri Aurobindo had theorised on it before him. Although the popular impression of the latter is indulging in violence, the facts are opposite. However, he toys with the idea of Spiritual anarchy.
When it comes to the mind, no one is more relevant than The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Consulting them can be hugely rewarding.

I started Savitri Era Religion in 2006 and have posted many clarifications over the years. A cursory glance will reveal many parallels with the history of Christianity. Unfortunately, the devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are unable to take the right decision in this regard!
Direct disciples and other scholars were able to produce significant amount of secondary literature, of impeccable standard, on The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. But they had not faced the menace of Hindutva. I'm writing against it since 2005. I haven't seen anyone else doing the same.
Sri Aurobindo wrote about #WorldUnion and included it in his #FiveDreams but avoided predicting any global-wide religion. Savitri Era Religion fills that vacuum. While his philosophical and poetic works form a formidable treasure, worshipping The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is lethal!
As Director of Savitri Era Learning Forum (SELF) since 2005, I encourage everyone to judge issues from multiple angles. Learning from rival opinions is essential for developing the right perspective. All are welcome to seek clarifications on what I write. savitriera.blogspot.com
Philosophy is written in the books but is meant for the mind. No doubt, they have a lot of literary value and even are a source of solace depending upon the situation or person, but the function of philosophy is to mould the mind. The Life Divine by Sri Aurobindo is the most apt.
Record of Yoga by Sri Aurobindo is not for the common people. Similarly, it's very difficult to understand what he and The Mother attempted to accomplish at the occult level. But Savitri Era Religion believes that they are always present and worshipping them is the only solution.
Savitri Era Party draws inspiration from The Mother & Sri Aurobindo who represent Harmony. Social, political, and economic problems in India are legion but the most important is philosophy-deficit. Worshipping them opens the way for imbibing their teachings and transforming life.
A major motivation for launching Savitri Era Religion for me was to escape the complex and confusing maze of mythology. Rejecting rituals also was part of the deal. Social systems like castes and lifestyle restrictions were another inducement. And, finally, getting rid of hatred.
Reading any book of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo amounts to yoga and collaboration with evolution. Reading aloud entails uttering mantra, and creating prayerful ripples of vibration in the atmosphere. While Savitri is well known, the powerful prose of The Life Divine also delivers.
Savitri Era Religion has no relation with other faiths and philosophies. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have written commentaries on many ancient texts but Savitri Era Religion is not dependent on them. In fact, it's not dependent on any book or institution. Surrender to TM&SA, crux.
I don't know how I have missed him all these years but Vishal Mangalwadi has been trying to establish the correct narrative as regards the last two centuries. The trio William Jones, William Carey, and T.B. Macaulay created the foundations for modern India
I have been reading that Western philosophers have engendered the modern principles of Humanities whereas Vishal Mangalwadi is emphasising that they all come from the Bible. This is quite revealing. Universities are deceiving us through their secular scheme of education, he says.
History of Christianity and Western philosophy is very important for understanding the significance of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. In fact, their philosophy and prophecy can be said to be a continuation of the same tradition. Max Théon is also an intriguing link. Scholars beware!
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo's pictures and their writings are available online and, therefore, Savitri Era Religion doesn't require any brick and mortar facilities. Each one is free to weave his or her own unique tapestry of relationships with them without any mediation or system.
It's futile to manufacture any new ideology just because the old ones failed to deliver. Savitri Era Party seeks to mend the original defect of ignoring Sri Aurobindo. If The Human Cycle and The Life Divine are true, then there is no power which can stop the evolutionary upsurge.
Although Sri Aurobindo has written about some nations and their salient characteristics, globalisation, multiculturalism, and Internet have transformed the world. Thus, any literal reading of his words may not be correct after more than a century. Devotees shouldn't be misguided.
Savitri Era Religion doesn't endorse any particular lifestyle or form of community living. It's too complex an affair to be organised by spirituality or any other overarching principle. Democracy however is sacrosanct but most institutions run in an exploitative and coercive way.
William Carey carried modernity to India the effect of which still permeates West Bengal. With 27% Muslims and substantial non-Bengali population it can boast of a multicultural society. Its present Govt represents an authentic secular spirit despite misgivings on democracy front
It's important to understand how the spirituality taught by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is different from tradition and religion. It's also not separate from life, profession, or politics. But insisting on some form of reform must not be equated with aspiration for transformation.
The general impression about British rule is tyranny and exploitation but its positive contributions shouldn't be forgotten. Besides, the selfless work of Christian Missionaries in creating the foundations for education, health, civil services, army, and science etc. is colossal.
Theoretically speaking, The Mother & Sri Aurobindo's emphasis on perfect work and money for the sake of the Divine, very much, matches Max Weber's, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism. Significantly, even Freemasons can be said to be following an identical ideology.
Mother's Agenda provides an account of her priorities after Sri Aurobindo's departure. While her work on the body is a unique contribution in the occult realm tackling the ever-increasing pressure of outward activities was equally challenging. But stress on publicity was lacking!
Rise of Hindutva as a dominant ideology may be looked at as a failure of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo's philosophy in luring the young and the educated. This isn't due to inferior content but lack of adequate publicity. Savitri Era Party aims at providing orientation and motivation
Not very far from my place, stands Bandel Church, built by the Portuguese in 1599. Many stories of miracle (Bandel means mast in Portuguese) float about it. One relating to The Mother, in connection with construction of the Railway platform, is also there.
Although the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo is known to be very profound, it's meant for ordinary individuals. No special quality or qualification is required to practice it. Savitri Era Religion entails worshipping The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the one Supreme Divine and surrender.
Savitri Era Religion has no attachment to any variety of mythology or imaginary glorious past. It values modernity ushered in by the Europeans. English is precious since Sri Aurobindo wrote in it. It also supports science and is against Ayurveda, Astrology, and Occult practices.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo were at pains to point out that the love, fraternity, or ananda they talked about is not the same as usually understood. They are of a different texture, belong to another realm altogether. That's the reason they don't find much meaning in philanthropy.
