Shelley, Keats, and Savitri

Not many people knew him before he murdered Gandhi, nor he terrorised anyone. He had his patriotic conviction for the crime and was successful. One needn't agree with him but forgetting his idealism just because he committed the crime is distortion of history. Nuance is necessary.

The problem is, there's no neutrality left and each voice is identified with one side or the other. The reality is that, we have a duly elected govt but all its actions can't be wrong. If good measures are also appreciated, then credibility can be earned; real critical scrutiny.

There's no dearth of scholarly works on #SriAurobindo's poetry, philosophy, or political prophecies. But so much of insight are of no use for most Twitter users. Time to seek what's valuable than the routine of daily outrages and chasing celebrities. 2020 can really be a new year

Younger generation doesn't get attracted towards yoga or meditation. Spirituality too has been besmirched by spurious Babas spurring mushrooming of commercial exploitation of success or wellbeing. In the circumstances The Mother & Sri Aurobindo's teaching remains the most genuine

It's said that, Sri Aurobindo developed nascent spiritual sensibilities from the poems of Shelley and Keats that dovetailed into Savitri. This connection, when seen in the light of Colonial education itself providing stimulation for Freedom struggle, is infinitely more important.

Ignorance about Sri Aurobindo and deliberate sidelining of him has to be reversed. Followers have to do it themselves but must first be adequately oriented. Scholars similarly need sufficient acquaintance but there's no shortcut. We tweet diverse clues at the risk of generalising

Cuttack in Odisha is one of the oldest towns of India and continues to be a melting pot. Devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo gather here in large numbers, on several occasions in a year, showing light to the rest of the world. Odisha has 12,000 Study Circles and 1000 Schools. https://t.co/aDH2qJLvwl
Sri Aurobindo's stress on spirituality is well known though not readily available. Ordinary intelligence however is enough to read his books where he busts conventional wisdom at every step. Thus it's not a pleasant experience for many and becomes a source of disappointment alas!

If the past glory is a perpetual cause of anguish for the present generation, then I think, it needs to be jettisoned. Focusing on achievements on a realistic basis with future potential should be a more prudent course. So, Odia identity needs to kneaded with many unique Konarks.

Not much knowledge on the intricacies of this particular debate but I often RT controversial seeming tweets for the benefit of those who check my TL. Further, blocking or ignoring is not particularly helpful when we are just on the cusp of an age of reinvention and transvaluation.

Mythology is literature and Rituals are superstition; following tradition is not a compulsion. Mitra and Varuna as portrayed in The Secret of the Veda by Sri Aurobindo form the true objective of human aspiration. It's the real discovery of India that transcends nation or religion

A simple solution. The Veda is one of the most ancient texts with ancestry from Iran to India. Modern commentators like Shankara or Vivekananda are silent about it. Dayananda took it up and Sri Aurobindo presented a whole new interpretation. Reading it can open eyes about Hindus.

The Veda is about the fight between light and darkness and the challenge of growing in illumination till one reaches at Mitra and Varuna. This Evolutionary journey, according to Sri Aurobindo, is difficult through sheer human effort. Hence aspiring for the grace of Divine Mother.

Sri Aurobindo offers extensive guidance on the metter with Yogic insight. Consulting him can provide a more enduring foundation for erecting theoretical shelters. Thanks.

Aim of life is to arrive at Mitra and Varuna

Marxists made it fashionable that you may fashion history as you like and RSS propagated its own through baudhik without writing anything. In Twitter we find each one peddling his own pet version. So oral is being ossified in written form and in diverse languages. Tower of Babel!

The formula is simple: a democratically elected govt must be allowed to implement its decisions; Parliament is the only forum for discussion. Intellectuals serving opposition parties have zero credibility and so, their opinions sound hollow. No threat to Democracy like Emergency.

This is how irreverence and insensitivity towards public developed. First MTV, then TOI starting a price war and mauling the Front Page. Then of course K-series and big fights as conspicuous dumbing down sources. War of words on Twitter and elsewhere with worst kind of invectives

The Veda was relegated to mechanical rituals as philosophers failed to find anything worthwhile. Sri Aurobindo disclosed its inner meaning in consonance with his Evolutionary ontology & Yoga psychology involving Adventure of Consciousness. This is the highest peak of India's past

Konark is the cornerstone of Odia pride but only sculpture or architecture can't be the be all and end all of a nation or civilisational. Besides, marketing Puri and other tourist destinations many a time assume religious hue. Thankfully, Sri Aurobindo's teaching is widely spread

It was easy to be disappointed by Congress during the last 2-3 decades and drawn to Hindutva instead. Awareness about an alternative ideology like Sri Aurobindo's, however, can create a momentum for a more harmonious worldview but many obdurately refuse to have any truck with him

Like financial portfolio, intellectual capital too requires periodical review, reorganisation, and replenishment. Where you come from or what you bring to the table need to be clarified from time to time and there's absolutely no compulsion of being wedded to a fixed set of ideas

Many ridicule Humanities, and not unjustifiably, because Marxists have misused them. Nevertheless, they offer the best ground to wrestle with ideas, arguments, and predictions. Writing being fundament of Civil Society and vehicle of Theory, inculcating honesty and lucidity is key

A tweet is like a thesis; needs to be defended suitably. Otherwise, indoctrination and fanaticism lead one astray. Personal political opinion has no validity unless buttressed by adequate arguments and justifications. Like, saying Hindu doesn't impart any self-evident legitimacy.

Instant publishing encourages writing but learning basic ethics is necessary. Humility, respect for, and tolerance of others' views is primary. Not to thrust your views as right and final is second. Engagement with others to reply to or clarify points is next. Last is persistence

Satyajit Ray wrote that while Film making is an art, producing involves money, machines and industry. Similarly, Democracy is about lives of ordinary people but its modalities paradoxically entail huge party-machineries, fork-tongued politicians, and theatrical election-campaigns

What about tripleT and 377 etc? Social sector is witnessing diverse changes including less stress on castes. Infra development is also conspicuous. So, there is progress but the scenario you wish for may take another decade. I'm optimistic.
This RG mention and overdose of criticism of Modi Govt. overlooking its merits.

Knowing RSS and BJP well, you are expecting too much. They have come to power after a long wait but know Mythology is irrelevant in modern context and hatred politics has no future. Modi is doing a balancing act and if they just survive, it's a big achievement. I see this merit.

Present Govt, as far as my observation goes, hasn't in any way promoted Hindu Rashtra. It has been adhering to Constitutional modalities in all spheres. Thus, vocal opposition by certain State govts seems absurd and is against federal functioning. Party line and govt are separate

Quotations are often misunderstood and misused; so search for the book and read the whole context. Theory is essential for practice; the map can't be left behind during mountaineering. So zeroing on the right priority must be the aim instead of plunging headlong and breaking head

Nothing wrong in protecting Hindu interests or propagating religion but painting the whole country as belonging to Hindus is patently delusory. Many intellectuals are engaged in such a misleading campaign but it's against basic tenets of Dharma of which they are avowed adherents.

From an outward perspective, you may be right and such a scenario seems tempting; but Sri Aurobindo has thought upon these aspects with his yogic insight. He doesn't find any future for any form of religion and foresees an entirely spiritual environment to dawn conforming to Veda

The Veda is about the fight between light and darkness and the challenge of growing in illumination till one reaches at Mitra and Varuna. This Evolutionary journey, according to Sri Aurobindo, is difficult through sheer human effort. Hence aspiring for the grace of Divine Mother.

Sri Aurobindo knew half a dozen European languages and after returning to India in 1893, learnt another half a dozen Indian languages. But the way he has enriched the English language is unparalleled. Reading his works in original is an absolutely rewarding affair. So, why wait?
1. Open any page and read loudly
2. Enjoy the sight and sound of alliterations, there would be plenty
3. Being baffled by difficult words or unusual turns of phrase is another source of enjoyment
4. There will be many allusions but spotting them depends upon one's own background.

I support Market but denounce manipulation. Stock market is only a small fraction of Market. What I'm highlighting is mafia and cartels are not allowing democratisation of economic sphere. Most people being uneducated in India are out of the Stocks scenario or nurse burnt fingers

When top columnists or institution heads throw away the fig leaf of being neutral, then the power of discourse as a weapon in Democracy gets blunt. But then, the supremacy of Democracy itself is being questioned the justification of which can't also be ascertained without debate.

Recommending, rating, or passionate endorsing is so pervasive here but people forget to rate their own selves first and hence most often it's like blind leading the blind. Partisan and sponsored views even on movies make people look so juvenile and unstable. To err is human alas!

Most blame past leaders but it's no solution. Don't quarrel with the past or weep over it. Don't waste your time over this could have been done or that shouldn't have happened. How to improve present situation should be the focus but imaginary scenarios like Hindu Rashtra absurd.

What is Sensex? Instead of doing work on ground, some persons with large savings have invested in something  just because some others have invested without any clue about future performance or why the prices are so high in comparison to the book value. It's all deft manipulation.

Most people tend to be excited about a bubble in the name of booming economy. Ultimately, the bubble bursts and we are in a similar situation now. High salaries for top positions shouldn't be an indicator of how large masses make their both ends meet. No Govt intervention needed.

Very few persons are present now who had direct contact with The Mother or had a Darshan of her. They all don't write; so documenting oral history can be a good initiative but no enthusiasm in the new generation. The Media school run by Sri Aurobindo Society in Delhi is Marxist.

Congress banished Sri Aurobindo from curriculum and got itself banished. Hindutva might witness a repeat. Strangely intellectuals choose to hide behind a smokescreen and avoid grappling with the course of events Sri Aurobindo predicts. We are harping on this for over a decade now.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have left behind a huge corpus of writings and conversations that are available online. They have corrected many viewpoints and indicated the right Evolutionary course. So no one can push his or her theory without being challenged. This is a great gain.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have been frank about identifying asuric forces among their contemporaries and also gods and goddesses. If we don't accept their views and go by our own whims, then it's a serious error. Questioning their spiritual power is a folly that one should avoid

Tweets on Sri Aurobindo are a few and far between except copy-paste by the Devotees. One can watch the passion and conviction of evangelists to ask why similar enthusiasm is missing. May be they are funded and a whole bureaucratic set up goads them. But is that worth emulating?

To be unduly impressed by power and position or pomp and ceremony is common but an individual's task is to acquire right understanding and forthrightness. The sight of Hindutva intellectuals imitating the Congress practice of parroting, timidity, and sycophancy is disconcerting.

In fact, tussle between TMC and BJP has taken the form of a tug-of-war between Bengalis and non-Bengalis. That's pretty convenient for parties and people are too eager to be defined by such identities. Seems like there's no solution to such division as polarisation is spreading.

Many good things come from Europe in general and U.K. in particular, and it's instructive to enumerate them too.
[Because the East India Company was still hostile to missionaries, they settled in the Danish colony in Serampore and were joined there by Carey on 10 January 1800.] W

We have seen Congress downfall and an akin fate awaits Hindutva. Sri Aurobindo theorised 100 years ago but people dismiss him and flaunt their own vision. No bar on creativity but events are likely to overtake without notice. "A few shall see what none yet understands," he wrote.

Savitri has undergone several editions and revisions but RY Deshpande, an authority on Sri Aurobindo's poetry and philosophy refuses to accept them and has republished the original. Similarly is there any scope to abide by the Constitution when one was born and reject amendments?

As early as 1907, Sri Aurobindo announced that India will be free but by 1917, his focus is no longer India but the whole world. He publishes his prediction of a #WorldUnion and repeats the same in his radio broadcast on August 14, 1947. So, the Uttarpara Speech is not his final.

It's easy to be an atheist or rationalist but thanks to The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, we are saved from such a prospect. They have created ample theory but on the practical front nothing concrete precipitates. Thus it's largely a matter of belief only and hence Savitri Era Religion

Someday, we will also brag about our #SavitriEra ecosystem and there will be many scholars and writers but it won't ride piggyback on Hindutva or any other populist ideology. Purity is the cornerstone of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo's vision and sincerity is the fuel that propels.

Many people are in a regret mode that they haven't read much of Sri Aurobindo and are unable to write on him with competence. And even if they start reading now they don't understand and his writings are so vast and diverse. No solution to this except developing deep appreciation

Conceiving the Divine as concurrent with our lives, events, and diverse decisions is the task The Mother & Sri Aurobindo ask for. This is an Ontological breakthrough incorporating Evolutionary unfolding of history. Mitra and Varuna of Vedic vintage adorning the pedestal is surety.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo were clear; they always talked about the Divine. Not in the sense of temple going or performing rituals, nor nationalism or economy. Divinisation of the body was their target and imparting momentum to Evolution, a challenge. So, no lesser ideals or nap.

Another instance of languages languishing and people deprived of last mile Democracy and Development. Sovereignty to the States is a must. #RepublicDay

Future historians may discover that your long articles on demographic imbalance were responsible for spreading the current unrest, the consequences of which are feared to be unpleasant! @maidros78

If even one person likes my tweet, it proves that much more people can agree with it, if they get a chance to read it. Thus, it's more a question of dissemination than content. Further, such a possibility always exists and the names of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo can do the trick.

In a fiercely competitive and individualist platform like this to find half-a-dozen handles who don't hesitate to RT my unconventional views off and on is definitely not a mean achievement. Blowing one's own trumpet is not exactly desirable but justified in this dog-eat-dog world

While reading The Dancing Wu Li Masters by Gary Zukav, I felt like ground slipping from under my feet. It was accentuated when I came across books on postmodernism and deconstruction. Investing money in Mutual Funds also taught me that value of funds fluctuates and is not fixed.

Actors by definition feign and lure of possible fame or some future assignment forces them to be in that disposition always. So relying on their opinion on matters of Statecraft is a negation of any sane conception of Scholarship and creating hype over such non-events, stupidity.

I think, it's important to understand present realities to have the right outlook for the future. What happened in the past is in no way binding on what should be done. Both Democracy and demography need to be respected and demonising any section of population needs to be avoided

Current dissensions are being painted as pertaining to Hindu-Muslim divide whereas Savitri Era Party is demanding Sovereignty to States and specific regions on the basis of languages under a loose Federation forming the nucleus of a future #WorldUnion as foreseen by Sri Aurobindo

The very phrase sub-nationalism is an absurdity. Nationalism can emanate from diverse facets and what one values or fights for shud be a personal choice in a Democracy. So imposing some uniform notion of nationality or patriotism is against the spirit of Democracy. Nuance needed.

People are supreme in a Democracy and it must be left to them to decide how they like to be governed. Imposing a Colonial Constitution derived from mediaeval notions upon voters over one billion is unprecedented and anomalous. Recognising this folly should be a priority for each.

Most people of India have never travelled outside their own States; it's not necessary. They never bother about any Central Government. Only a small percentage of people deriving benefits from a large nation clamour for Nationalism. The States (and languages) deserve Sovereignty.

Modi as PM hasn't displayed any overt sign of religious bigotry. Besides, it's difficult to judge him as he never speaks out of the script. So, your characterisation of Modi might turn out to be one-sided. He needs the Nobel Prize and I retain the hope that he will act Gorbachev.

The very phrase Tukde tukde gang is an implicit acknowledgement of a threat as well as a possibility. Everyone knows that there's no solution to the Kashmir problem but to... Same is the case with the North East. The question is when to accept the existence of multiple Republics.

Management education developed disrespect for age by announcing enlightenment at 25. So far so good, but Evolution proceeds in its own peculiar and precarious fashion and refuses to accept it as true. Thus a great amount of vigilance and discernment needed to take best advantage.

Democracy needn't be understood as a political principle alone; extending it to the economic sphere is also necessary. How large enterprises are managed, or some social sector is given protection, shouldn't be the lookout of only the Govt. or a handful of mega Corporate houses.

We read about the menace of Deep State, Big Data, AI etc. in the media but Govt. doesn't express any fears about them nor devises any strategy to deal with them. Why these vital matters are not discussed with the citizens is surprising. India seems to be the same primitive State.
Yoga as a symbol of muscular Hindutva won't go too far. Besides, initial enthusiasm wanes after a while. Integral Yoga heralded by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo on the other hand is about moulding one's thought process so that each and every activity of life is transformed suitably.

Any good points? Then only one can measure someone's worth objectively. One example: he was responsible for marginalising Subhas in an unjust manner. And later, Sri Aurobindo too disliked the latter's joining hands with Hitler. So, Gandhi was an instrument of Evolutionary forces.

Anyone anguished over the current #CAA_NRC_Protests can easily know how much heavily ignoring Sri Aurobindo is costing the country. Ideological bankruptcy has become a hallmark of all political parties and yet there's no shame or any sense of urgency. Pedestrianism and mediocrity

Juvenile remarks like Sri Aurobindo could have done this or shouldn't have gone there are fairly common. Institutions connected with him have not been able to spread enough awareness of this great son of India. Followers need to be a bit aggressive for his 150th birth anniversary

Yoga has many connotations but a simple method is doing anything relating to The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, remembering them, or reading their books. Also striving to break intransigence of others. Visiting Centres or group activities have their own advantages as well as limitations

From an individual's point of view, too much of history or fiction is unnecessary. What matters is how one can contribute towards designing the future as envisaged by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Aim of life is to arrive at Mitra and Varuna who signify highest rungs of perfection.

The Mother's role in the history of India from 1914 to 1973 has myriad dimensions to understand the significance of which takes years. Mother's Agenda records her spiritual experiments for transformation of body cells with Vedic immortality as culmination of Evolutionary odyssey.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo no doubt relied upon 3000 years of education and culture but their salience lies in removing fences and building bridges. The kind of global perspective they offer is unusual and unprecedented. Time to partake of this epochal adventure of consciousness.

Political leaders tend to speak in a threatening tone and yet it's treated as peaceful. In Twitter too, many adopt not a very polished speech but that has become normal. Suppressed urge for violence is vented through such implicit rowdyism. Self-interest and tribalism too egg on.

This year marks the Centenary of The Mother's final arrival in India where she lived her next half century. One easy test of honesty, integrity, and morality of the public intellectuals in India is whether they acknowledge any worth or contributions of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo.

People in streets means abject failure of Constitution and defending the same therefore is a paradox. Sovereignty to States is the solution and nationhood nurtured in the lap of a language is the most precious. Neglecting such precocious sentiments by megalomaniac attitude wrong.

There are many good people who are moral in nature and polite in behaviour but faithfully following the tradition and encouraging children to do same is often not very salutary. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo forcefully say such conformist attitude as erroneous, anomalous, and absurd.

Read a tweet by @sabhlok about some aspects of the Veda and obviously he is ignorant of Sri Aurobindo's interpretations. The same is the case with almost all intellectuals in India. Here is a chance to take a learner's attitude and turn a new leaf in life. https://t.co/I1U75AB6fA

The challenge is to integrate all this with Sri Aurobindo's philosophy. The Mother's experiments in Cellular consciousness are also important inputs. Thanks.

Savitri Era Party doesn't view people in terms of religious or caste identity. It's against Reservations and other laws and rules perpetuating such anachronism. It favours Federation of India by awarding Sovereignty to the States. Abolition of passport/visa system is also needed.

The Veda needs to be foregrounded so that Mitra and Varuna occupy lost territory. Savitri Era Religion is the solution for the future and establishment of #WorldUnion. Present unrest is likely to escalate so that people discuss the root of the problem and understand Sri Aurobindo

The Mother Sri Aurobindo are not against religions per se but predict that they are on their way out as part of Evolutionary progress. Most are unable to digest this but understanding the whole logic behind it is necessary at least in an academic way. Intellectuals need to debate

Quantity and numbers are deluding many. Right opinion or action may not draw a huge crowd. Mobilising large crowds may be a sign of legitimacy in Democracy but doesn't make the cause valid. So, eliciting independent opinion is important and cultivating such character is essential

I was a supporter of JP movement during college days. I also supported V.P. Singh's crusades. But I opposed Ram Mandir agitation. I wasn't very enthusiastic about Anna Hazare but wished him success. Though sympathetic towards dissent, I'm against the ongoing protests against #CAA

Was the Mandal phase of politics in India an aberration? So it seems when BJP is inching toward dominating mainstream. Foreign origin issue took the sheen away from the Congress but Muslims and Christians don't have any other choice. Leftists are hated; it's BJP's right advantage

Breaking: After six years, Govt is telling "India Needs to Rewrite Its History: An Alternative Retelling of India's Freedom Struggle." Of course, no clue on actual execution or inclusion in curriculum. Looks like, the British should be re-invited to complete this unfinished task.

Bankim's Anushilan too had impressed Sri Aurobindo and his concept of Integral Yoga has many parallels. Since he was writing his English, his motivation for making Westerners aware about Indian wisdom can't be ruled out. Also he was confident that he's telling something different

I think, this is the first MSM presentation of Sri Aurobindo and his place in history of ideas in India, in a most balanced and polite manner. Thank you @avatans for awaking countrymen and scholars from slumber. Let's hope, many such facets come to light in future for reappraisal

Sri Aurobindo is a Knowledge Mall and anyone entering has diverse aspects to choose from. A self-management course or a sequel to Homer, translations of Bhartrihari's poems or value of Art. His writings and conversations cover over forty volumes apart from thirty by The Mother.

Sri Aurobindo was born on August 15, 1872 and his 150th birth anniversary will be celebrated in 2022. A good book on him for beginners is needed for mass circulation. Someone with talent must take up this task. His relevance for future is more important than as a revolutionary.

Those reading Preamble of the Constitution without any awareness about Sri Aurobindo can be forgiven. But those paying lip service despite being aware of his greatness are doing more harm to the nation. #SavitriEra Learning Forum (SELF) is in the forefront to disabuse of Hindutva

Many Hindutva stalwarts are well read but rarely talk about the books or the ideas they have imbibed. Antipathy towards the West is deep but giving credit where it's due is also a sign of Dharma. Many contemporary authors have contributed significantly towards knowledge creation.

Many Hindutva stalwarts used to tussle with me, but have either blocked or muted me. My observations on Modi have more or less been proved right. My prediction of a Federation of India is fast taking shape. Those who don't agree shouldn't avoid reading or endorsing Sri Aurobindo.

Being born and brought up in an Odisha village (I turn 64 today), I have been fortunate to have lived in a peaceful and hatred-free society. No religious fundamentalism or caste war; public intellectuals enlightened and preaching harmony. A highly literary and cultural atmosphere.

Inclusion of Odia speaking areas outside the State was a constant demand. Neglect by Centre was another grouse. Now of course Odisha like Assam can demand ILP. I have been predicting full Sovereignty to the States for resolution of multifarious problems from Kashmir to Tamilnadu.

That's great; you can attempt a video interview too. He and Pranab Pattnaik belong to the Golden era. However much we do for them is not enough before what they really deserve. Their creations are going to last for centuries and give solace many generations of Odia people. Thanks.

This first Qawali is also mentioned in the biography of Manna Dey but his name nowhere appears as a co-singer except YouTube auto generated. Will it be possible to ascertain if his golden voice is also sewn into this historic damask? Can anyone contact the great Composer himself?

Present Govt is only following the example Congress established over the years. Sycophancy has become a synonym of Democracy. So, no room for complain.

You are hiding the truth. The whole affair has been clandestinely scripted and executed by BJP and RSS. Others are mere pawns. Nothing of this nature can happen without the patronage of those in power.

There should be some institution to remember Mungerilal also!

Funds are syphoned off from successful businesses and again govt is asked to save it. It's a racket.
State is not a profit making organisation; it has to carry many burdens as a necessity and part of prestige.
Airline is very crucial at times of emergency and war; not a wise move

And that's the primary reason why it fell into disuse.

Winter and Spring https://t.co/umph6T5gpo

Citizens handover that responsibility to Defence forces and Police in a Democracy so that they can live without fear. No need to tinker with that.

When a family grows too big, it gets divided. A similar situation has arrived in India after seventy years of its Constitution. Time to say goodbye to each other and serve respective mother languages. It will do immense good to far flung regions as well as international relations

Topological vs. Pathological Nationalism

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo always remind to become conscious about the real aim of life. 24 minutes out of 24 hours need to be spent contemplating over what lies beyond the ordinary activities of life and how an attitude of surrender can save one from committing many stupidities.

Though called social media, fascination for celebrities or hyped up crimes is almost a norm. Happenings of smaller cities are ignored; achievements of lesser mortals are hardly mentioned. Thus, democratisation is missing; a vast majority lacking sense of any worth in own selves.

1989 - 2020 https://t.co/X08ktVlPW2
Vision of knowledge as a goal of yoga valorises inner seeing commonly referred to as experience. Such a prospect however falls in the domain of transcendence. Day-to-day activities and common-sense obviously don't notice nor recognise any such occurrence barring rare coincidences.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo exhort to relinquish old tools and methods to allow Evolution to devise and hone more potent instruments. Upanishads were great revelatory poetry but got bogged down in philosophical abstractions. Today, tweets are a great opportunity for meeting minds.

Sri Aurobindo's writings on the Veda are now available in three full volumes of his complete works apart from the Bengali writings one. But, it will be in order to say that he is also explicating the Vedic wisdom in his other volumes be it on yoga, poetry, politics, or education.

People in general have many misconceptions about the Veda. Most are not concerned whether it exists. But if one understands what Mitra and Varuna stand for then mythological gods would lose relevance. In the same way, if one recognises Sri Aurobindo, he will not rever Vivekananda.

We have seen intellectuals like Dhume or Guha vacillating whereas we have been honest with our views. Those who run after money and career can't, obviously, offer the true picture. This handle is the only one in the country to provide unbiased opinion and Evolutionary direction.

Objects of the Society do not enjoin the study of Theosophy nor advocate public work, observes Joy Mills candidly in the current issue of The Theosophist. A similar predicament also exists for the followers of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Politics is still seen as negation of yoga

Religion facilitates diverse modes of socialisation in an asexual atmosphere especially for women and children. Besides, physical needs like food or entertainment form part of the package. No one would complain but Sri Aurobindo doesn't find any benefit in such collective affair.

Psychology in embryonic form developed in the plays of Marlowe and Shakespeare. Probing another's intention or behavioural pattern was akin to effort for domesticating animals. Yoga psychology however is about being aware of hidden forces and higher consciousness within oneself.

Ontology doesn't interest many as scientists and philosophers are constantly at loggerheads over conjectures. Religious injunctions or rituals are rather more relied upon despite uncertainty about outcomes. Growing into higher forms of perception can save one from superstitions.

Impressively put but two sayings come to mind:
1. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
2. Discretion is the better part of valor.
https://twitter.com/SavitriEraParty/status/1218953925119729664?s=19

The Mother was a Jew like Adorno, Arendt, Aron, Bauman, Benjamin, Bergson, Berlin, Bloch, Butler, Chomsky, Derrida, Dreyfus, Dworkin, Freud, Fromm, Horkheimer, Husserl, Levinas, Lévi-Strauss, Luxemburg, Marcuse, Marx, Nagel, Nussbaum, Popper, Putnam, Rand, Singer, & Wittgenstein.

Individual tales, like in fiction, seem important, and often poignant, but lack philosophical significance. History too is a story of many actors but they are more exceptions than rules. Impersonality is the aim which encompasses all like the oceanic vastness of the Vedic Varuna.

Mythology like Bollywood at present is a dominant influence but it's also necessary to sensitise people about Evolutionary imperatives and transcendence. Doctors or Social scientists do their job but religious leaders are more into building empires than focussing on Self-culture.

Democracy means equality and the opinion or choice of each citizen is valid in its own way. Those who believe in Hindu Rashtra or Akhanda Bharata are entitled to their dream but the reality is that it's not going to materialise any soon. Sri Aurobindo's #FiveDreams more probable.

Sri Aurobindo wrote this book 100 years back but neither scholars nor politicians seem to be interested. Neglecting his vision is going to cost the nation, heavily. Hope, the newly elected BJP President will consult it for giving the Party a new direction. https://t.co/pB9EoKAI2o

It never ceases to amaze me why a book of pure Ontology like The Life Divine was written against the backdrop of Colonial rule and World War I. What's the role of history in the whole project of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo? Why was this element of drama needed? Seems Bollywoodish!

Those who built their career in media and academia during Congress regime are crestfallen. Their ire against the present government is unreasonable and misleading. Country has many problems but Congress is not the right party to be at the helm. Following Sri Aurobindo is solution

Writing is backbone of civilisation and recognising good counsel is an essential condition. Proliferation of media and PR literature however tend to queer the pitch and hence younger generation is suffering from gargantuan confusion. Each one has the duty to remedy the situation.

If someone lectures you on Gandhi, Nehru, Marx, or Ambedkar, demand about the viewpoint of Sri Aurobindo. Boycott books on India that have no reference to Sri Aurobindo. Indians have been fooled for a very long time; not any more. #SriAurobindo must be accorded his rightful place.

Inertia and inferiority complex don't allow people to see merit in a new religion or political party. Yet, Savitri Era has been disseminating the immensely relevant Judeo-Vedic vision of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo which is being ignored and suppressed by influential institutions.

Dwindling interest in many aspects of life is not abnormal in old age resulting in focus and specialisation despite forgetting many facts and references. I started blogging on the web in 2005 and at 64 I can claim to have maintained a reasonable level of consistency and coherence.

Bengal was a political, religious, and cultural cauldron where Sri Aurobindo arrived after a full-scale Western education including in Greek and Latin. Indological research had unearthed diverse ancient texts but #SriAurobindo was never unduly impressed. He upheld his own vision.

There seems to be two types of Nationalism:
1. The kind of emotion stimulated by Bankim's Bande Mataram extolling beauty of hills, rivers, and fields is Topological
2. Hindutva version nourishing victimhood, hatred, and revenge against past invaders can be termed as Pathological

All political parties have concluded that Sri Aurobindo has no electoral utility and so, it's all the more reason for working for an environment where peace and harmony is the aim and not hounding a section of the population with different pretexts. Religious fanaticism must end.

India will never be able to conclusively solve this Citizenship imbroglio and the safest solution is to award Sovereignty to States and Regions. There are many advantages of right-sizing and it needs to be debated dispassionately shorn of worn out medieval notions of Nationalism.

Intellectual muscle is more important than indoctrination and ideological bondage. Understanding an issue can come from raising right questions ruthlessly and not by parroting puerile arguments. Younger generation must strive for inculcating critical reason as Sri Aurobindo asks.

This very narrative is Quixotic sans any relation to present reality. Collective emotions are good for shoring up self esteem but have diminishing returns in a market economy. To put the clock back doesn't seem a possibility especially when globalisation is on at a fast speed.
https://twitter.com/NathTusar/status/1219517760499146752?s=19

I don't think so many different parties were ever in power in India in the past and this signals evolution of a healthy federalism. Local sentiments are getting ossified and it's irreversible. Digital environment is also proving to be a boon for regional languages. Welcome change.

Nothing can match the beauty and elegance of Odia script which is the best candidate for a common script on sign boards across the country. People should see merit in this proposal to stop the needless language wars that are simmering in various corners. https://t.co/ztNGmYfTe8

Movement for separate State created animosity towards Bengalis which persists implicitly in Odias. Thus most are much more familiar with Hindi music than Bengali songs. This is a great loss given the closeness of two languages. Time to catch up with hugely versatile Bengali music.

Irrational reliance on Astrology, Mythology, and Rituals is responsible for spawning of Marxist ideology in India, at the other end of the spectrum. There is no easy solution for this impasse except accepting Sri Aurobindo as a point of departure for navigating the public sphere.

Most political parties today are no different from a jamboree of businessmen and no one objects. Yet the nature of politics is something different with potential of intellectuals upsetting the applecart. The Human Cycle written by Sri Aurobindo 100 years back isn't lying dormant.

Ethics certainly drives but bread and butter concerns are a drag. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo thought of an Ashram as solution but that doesn't seem to be a success. The society they foresee as delineated in The Life Divine is based on fraternity and not on usual commercial lines.

Apart from A.B. Patel and M.P. Pandit, Samar Basu was an indefatigable soldier of #WorldUnion movement. The journal had limited circulation but unlimited optimism. Having met him once, I carry that contagion and continue to spam the TL of my followers. #FiveDreams #SriAurobindo

Outright rejection of Hindutva worldview is the first step. Next is to drop reverence for Vivekananda, Ramana, Yogananda, et al. Third important point is to be acquainted with Western philosophy, especially postmodernism. Fourth is to recognise The Mother and fifth Sri Aurobindo.

Anonymous handles have this advantage of peddling any theory without any accountability or responsibility. I'm here to disseminate Sri Aurobindo's perspective and don't enjoy such luxury. In any case, no one knows the future and how societies are going to evolve in next 20 years.

I can't claim any spiritual experience but reading Sri Aurobindo's books like The Human Cycle or The Life Divine provides a powerful lens so much so that it's impossible to return to previous circumstances. Thus those who disagree with me are right in their own way but miss much.

As you know, each one understands in his own way; there's no uniformity. That's one basic thesis of postmodernism. Besides loyalties are dissimilar; that makes much difference. Thirdly, one grows with time. What seems right now might be abandoned later. All these apply to me too.

Wikipedia page on Sri Aurobindo gives a good overview. https://t.co/WlSJ1aIRND

Many write they are tweeting in their personal capacity but do PR for their employer. Many anonymous handles are actually operated by businesses or political outfits. Being part of some organisation doesn't permit one to express views independently. So credibility is a big issue.

Demanding too much of ethical behaviour from a political party is unfair given the stiff competition they face to survive and leaders fighting with each other for one upmanship. Evolution of RSS and BJP has been in an uneven path and many ideological U-turns may be expected soon.

From Gandhian socialism to Govindacharya's Social engineering, BJP has seen many scenes. Different sections of people aligning with it to draw benefits is a natural consequence, just like what used to be with Congress. So to read that BJP is making strategic moves is far-fetched.

People enjoy all narcissistic antics of their favourite political leaders but wouldn't tolerate a minor boasting on my part. Immediately, someone will tweet a quote against ego and ambition. Such an attitude is a strange phenomenon. Why don't we like one of us to succeed or win?

Someone tweeted about declining standard of our Universities and another about difficulty of doing business in India and its economy tanking. I turn 64 (as per certificate) today and am hearing such complains since my childhood. Twitter is the only solace. https://t.co/BbrsS39f2E

Knowledge by definition is a superior phenomenon. One needs courage to surrender to it so that it carries you to new destination. Those who wish to tether it to their own ideology so that it is domesticated won't obviously draw the full benefit. Emptying the cup therefore primary.

Knowledge is not always benign as we see in the examples of Max Théon or Paul Richard who are important figures in the life of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. The fact that a variation of Théon's symbol is worshipped as Sri Aurobindo's symbol has significance. https://t.co/hDL4BchuUj

The Mother's collaboration with Sri Aurobindo dwarfed the intellectual legacy of Theosophical Society and Ramakrishna Mission. This signal contribution of The Mother is an epochal event not only for India but for the whole world. March 29, 1914 and February 29, 1956 are important.

Many are eternally tormented for demolition of numerous temples in the past, but how many more The Mother builds in the occult territory of Cellular consciousness some glimpses of which we read in Mother's Agenda is yet to be recognised or appreciated appropriately. #SriAurobindo

Many of us read Newman's Lead, Kindly Light in the school and The Mother's writings like Prayers and Meditations seem similar. Ahe dayamaya biswa bihari is an iconic Odia prayer by Ramakrushna Nanda later included in the film Balidana (Music: Prafulla Kar) https://t.co/CxB5Us8soc

[He was fascinated by Raja Rammohan Roy and his Brahmo Samaj. As a follower of the Brahmo faith, Madhusudan Rao inspired the people to think for freedom by breaking the religious dogmas.] Another iconic Odia devotional song although visuals are discordant. https://t.co/UcRS8d0IiO

Some handles may be credible but to extend the same to all anon accounts wouldn't be appropriate. What I resent is their overdose of bravado and rigidity. For instance your own voice in blogs is polite but here you practice hostility, perhaps deliberately. https://t.co/9cvsoRUQdG

Any number of artisans in this profession can be seen in Odisha and elsewhere languishing in poverty. Concrete help to them can be more fruitful than rhetorical ode to the past. Just a suggestion, no offence intended.

Mitra, Varuna, and Sarama

No compulsion for slogging for a PhD degree, no need for publishing in peer-reviewed journals, no scope for post-publication discussion or review articles, no compunction for self-congratulatory blurbs and piles of promotional messages; and critical response is branded as hostile.

Repeating an old theme in the New Year. Many actions and words of Sri Aurobindo were relevant at that point; they are no longer applicable to current situations or future scenarios. So exercising sufficient caution is required to avoid self-delusion and spreading misleading cues. https://t.co/gRsjB9CDog

As you are well aware, Sri Aurobindo has foreseen a #WorldUnion of smaller nations. In such a federal set up borders will certainly be there but they may not be as rigid as today. Thus, language based Sovereign nations are perhaps the first step for fulfilment of his #FiveDreams.

Basic literacy in Analytic philosophy, Semiology, or Hermeneutics can easily clarify on Cognition, Perception, etc. Experience is another form of knowledge; no watertight compartments. That reading and rumination can carry one to higher levels of consciousness is too tall a claim.

Study of Humanities in India should be redesigned with Sri Aurobindo at the Centre. Colonial and Congress influence have to be toned down so that a more integral ethos emerges where various persons and events are looked bit more dispassionately. Religions too get their due space.

Marxists cling to their ideology as it's immensely appealing to young adults; individuality and autonomy are dominant themes. Life, however, is more complex and reality multi-layered. Hence Sri Aurobindo seeks to correct the imbalance and offers an Integral paradigm for grown-ups.

No scholar worth his salt would dismiss Marx. He will remain relevant till the worth of Sri Aurobindo is appreciated on a wider scale. As of date, Marx forms a formidable bulwark against regressive and obscurantist forces like Hindutva. That of course needs to be upgraded to SA. https://t.co/8bdguzQ1dJ

Please use quotations from Sri Aurobindo's Complete Works for appropriate context. They are available free online. India's Rebirth is a misleading compilation that misrepresents Sri Aurobindo. Seasoned hands like you should endeavour to correct distortions and not propagate them.

I don't feel myself as competent to contest when you say there's nothing wrong. Yet you understand very well how adding one or two sentences more can entirely change the whole emphasis. Sri Aurobindo is too versatile a thinker to be pigeonholed; please do justice to his worldview.

Revolutionary period of Sri Aurobindo is not relevant in the present Democratic milieu. His poetry, philosophy, political vision, and prescriptions for education however are becoming ever more relevant for their insight and foresight. Intellectuals in India should seek guidance.

Sri Aurobindo is not against the West; rather he seeks its integration. Moreover, he laments the distortions and abstractions subsequent to the Vedic symbolism in India. So, the tasks are a bit difficult in view of glorification of popular religion and antipathy towards the West.

Yes, I understand. Btw, your English should be less sophisticated so that everyone on Twitter gets it.

ARYA appeared month after month from August 1914 to January 1921 during which epochal world events occurred. This year is the centenary of the last year of this great journal. Its profound contents were far ahead of their time. Appetite for Sri Aurobindo's works is growing, now.

The Life Divine is also a book of yoga and Sri Aurobindo takes the logic of Evolutionary compulsion to posit how purification of human nature through ethical or mental control can lift the human race to Supermanhood. Such certitude in his works is common, though seems improbable.

Being in power, Hindutva votaries think it to be their priority to remove Marxists from various institutions but that's not the way to root out Leftist ideology. Confronting it with adequate scholarship is necessary but Hindutva lacks intellectual wherewithal. Sri Aurobindo gains.

We have been pointing out this intellectual bankruptcy Hindutva is suffering from on Twitter since 2012. So far, not a single response or scope for engagement. Additionally, Sri Aurobindo has been suffering the same neglect that Leftists meted out to him since his demise in 1950.

Humanities courses can be completely redesigned with emphasis on current concerns and Sri Aurobindo as the central focus. Otherwise mostly history of different subjects forms the bulk of syllabus. Needless to say such conviction is not possible without reading him in some detail.

Democracy and dissent are inseparable but how to respond to the latter or engage with it is how the quality of the former is judged. Only ruling is not enough; sensing dissent in advance and giving it due attention no matter how feeble it is is the key to true Democratic instinct

Democracy is a dream, true Democracy remains in the realm of possibility.

That this country comprises of multiple Nations is no secret but giving it legal recognition is a matter of time. Languages and local priorities are so different that no one can claim to possess a reasonable level of acquaintance with diverse regions separated by thousands of KMs https://t.co/moHd9e2C03

1520 - Multiple Kingdoms in India
1620 - Multiple Kingdoms in India
1720 - Multiple Kingdoms in India
1820 - Multiple Kingdoms in India
1920 - Multiple Kingdoms in India
2020 - There must be multiple Sovereign Nations in India on language basis.

Begging has become so ubiquitous that it's difficult to spend some time in a public place without being approached by someone. Further, aggressiveness is increasing and seeking financial help by false tales is mushrooming. Exhibiting disability is visual and emotional harassment.

Intellectuals holding institutional posts or drawing remuneration from govt claiming objectivity, neutrality, or panoptic insights is laughable. One's ideological preference is a privilege but to flaunt it as unchallengeable truth is preposterous. Postmodernism teaches humility.

There is nothing much Hindu in Savitri except the legend appearing in Mahabharata. That also was drastically altered by Sri Aurobindo. Christian epics like Dante's Divina Commedia and Milton's Paradise Lost form sizable template for delineation of successive psychological worlds.

Sri Aurobindo's interpretations of various deities featuring in Veda forms discovery of a whole new knowledge universe. How he defines Savitri, Savita, or Surya, in this context, is important since each one is a link in the overall ladder of consciousness. https://t.co/NYkzQayaka

Whether one thinks about own Company or the Country, self-interest never ceases to operate. So, those who are paid to think and write about the country are doubly suspect. Further, no one has any right to be more equal than others or claim whole territories for his clan and tribe.

Living in a civil atmosphere can't be an end in itself and no such luxury exists since evil has been an integral part of any dispensation right from the Vedic times. Sri Aurobindo exhorts for collaborating towards the next step in Evolution and that demands some serious reading.

Taking Sri Aurobindo a bit seriously can remove such despondency. The miracle of India achieving independence on his 75th birth anniversary is not just a coincidence. He elaborated upon its significance in his radio broadcast on August 14, 1947 outlining #FiveDreams, #WorldUnion.

Marxists are against Modi without realising that he stands as a pillar against Hindutva. Some of the top intellectuals are such blind advocates of Hindutva that they can justify anything to establish a theocracy or even a Monarchy. Thank god, Modi is moderately educated but firm.

Most active in public life today were influenced by the JP movement in their youth. It was a defining moment for India and Modi seems to have been amply affected. #CAA is not at all a Hindutva agenda but opponents have found an alibi to protest. Well that's part of Democratic way

1) Admiring Sri Aurobindo alongwith his contemporaries is either uninformed or hypocritical. 2) Appreciating him as a revolutionary is no longer necessary. 3) Not realising his unique contributions to World events and future Evolution is downright puerile. 4) He is the greatest.

Mentioning Sri Aurobindo in passing may not be an appropriate appreciation of his significance since magnitude may not be a dependable indicator of influence. For example, Sri Aurobindo spoke highly about Blake while Wordsworth was more popular and powerful. So, quality matters.

Hope, you are aware of this famous quote from The Life Divine by Sri Aurobindo signifying profound ontological clues yet to be fully grasped. This has influenced many in the west and inspired their work. Of course, Coomaraswamy's book is much more popular. https://t.co/0UlMZuC0we

Somehow the popular appeal of Vivekananda, Tagore, and Subhas Chandra Bose has eclipsed the hugely insightful writings of Sri Aurobindo. When it comes to future Evolution his predictions are the most credible and coherent. His #FiveDreams broadcast on August 14, 1947, a must read

Fine, but as you know self-certification is not proper education nor it should treat schooling as final. Sri Aurobindo provides the much needed avenue for surging beyond traditional wisdom and complacency. His covers diverse areas of human interest and culture that are universal.

The questions actually are something different. Whether the old religions need be given a new lease of life or should we collaborate with Evolutionary forces to unleash a sublime destiny for the whole mankind as envisaged in the Veda. And, what are the avenues to reach this goal?

Exactly, that I observe everywhere but people in general are reluctant to engage whereas I'm at this job almost fulltime. Certainly we can discuss the intricacies in more simpler terms in future. Thanks.
Something I wrote fifteen years back https://t.co/9Cqq1DXHEz
Hope we meet for an hour or two for a better mode of understanding.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo hold the key to the future of India as well as the world and not Rammohan, Dayananda, Vivekananda, Tagore, Bose, Gandhi, Nehru, Patel, Ambedkar, Savarkar, Golwalkar, Periyar, Namboodiripad, Upadhyaya, or Lohia. Students should be very clear in choosing.

The Life Divine by Sri Aurobindo is very much about our very life and existence, its nature and future; yet steers clear of current affairs. Being in that state of mind to probe how normal functioning of mind can be transcended so as to invite intuitive knowledge is the challenge.

Many people have never visited even the Wikipedia page on Sri Aurobindo which can easily give some basic idea about his life and philosophy. Even, a public intellectual like Panda confessed recently that he never knew anything about him. Here is the link: https://t.co/ntAecICGE7

So many lament for the Bengal of Bankim, Tagore, and Sri Aurobindo but in their own days they didn't have much popular following. So, creating such myths is a function of human mind for feel good effect. Many are so happy by watching movies which glorify the past defying reality.

I don't think it's proper to call anything a failure for it serves its Evolutionary role. Then, mankind is too abstract a term considering 30-40 years of active life of any person. What the posterity values and saves especially in a digital age now needs to be regularly reviewed.

I think the past is a given, nothing can be termed as a failure or blunder since from the Evolutionary angle each thing has its role, positive or provocative. Diallectical tension is necessary for progress and so designing the future in a set pattern is not a feasible enterprise.

In South, it's pretty common. Build a temple or a church by displaying the names of top donors near entrance. Provide free lunch and you get a regular stream of devotees who offer small contributions. This commercially viable model has now been adopted by political parties also.

Hindutva emphasis on externalities is a huge departure from traditional values like simplicity and austerity. Optics, of course, has taken the front seat in this age of television and watching a movie is seen as discharging one's social or religious duty, but yoga hasn't changed.

Twin towers by D.P. Chattopadhyaya. His critical estimation of Sri Aurobindo still remains unparalleled. His integral perspective and civilisational quest for harmony marks the culmination of 20th century fermentation in various spheres of life and society https://t.co/DCDSmxWeBh https://t.co/Lx1OprWlB9

Sri Aurobindo strived to establish a modern knowledge system based on inner needs of human beings that are universal. In this scheme, external divisions relating to religion or nationality don't have much meaning. Even language, culture or aesthetics serve only a limited purpose.

Newspapers thrust warped priorities and to look beyond it or rather behind it, in line with between the lines, to see through things so as to be awake to the real aim of life and attend to its imperatives is the challenge. Life's demands are difficult but they alone aren't enough

Diligence in matters of history or religion mustn't suffer negligence. Sri Aurobindo has established the purity of the Veda and hence subsequent distortions via mythology, rituals, and superstitions need to be jettisoned. Bollywood music shouldn't be allowed to replace Classical.

One is free to follow this Baba or that Baba but there's no better person than Sri Aurobindo to advise on religion, psychology, or philosophy. His emphasis on spirituality introduces huge corrective to the superficial perspective imposed by science, common sense, and rationality.

Not many here are aware of even the first line of the Veda on which Sri Aurobindo has written several explanations. He also emphasises upon the power of Mantra and hence anything composed in Sanskrit shouldn't be treated as one especially those popularised by Tantra. Buyer beware

In fact, the phrase Hindu Dharma itself is a supposition and general unwillingness to subject it to critical scrutiny with due academic rigour baffles professors. They encounter searching questions from students and to that extent they do justice to their job but also do politics.

Plato, Plotinus, Sri Aurobindo
Kant, Hegel, Sri Aurobindo
Husserl, Heidegger, Sri Aurobindo

Mocking is fairly common on Twitter sans any responsibility or inclination for offering counter arguments. Viewpoints are bound to differ depending upon one's orientation or level of education but people seldom recognise this deficiency. So, repeating certain themes is essential.

Followers must desist from making false promises in the name of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Their writings are in the public domain and it's for the people to take advantage of them. One thing that needs to be told over and over again that the Veda constitutes the fulcrum of life

The Teaching of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo belongs to the whole world. So what happens in the tiny enclave of Sri Aurobindo Ashram is not of much consequence. To my knowledge, it's a fairly plural atmosphere and no particular ideological path is pushed. But it's not a Hindu site.

Celebrations and social issues are important but The Mother & Sri Aurobindo keep on reminding about profounder aspects of life like what is envisaged as Mitra or Varuna in the Veda. Thus, the Sun is not merely the one in the sky but the inner Sun that's waiting to be discovered. https://t.co/5WwZfRWBQk

Employment and family affairs consume a lot of energy but ignoring more urgent obligations is also not prudent. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo foreground profounder aspects of our existence such as the Evolutionary task of Adventure of Consciousness. Savitri is a new version of Veda.

Street food is a prominent feature of any urban setting but most of the time they operate near drains and filth. Even shops of almost permanent nature run from makeshift cottages for years near garbage heaps. No one feels bothered as people regularly gather for tea and snacks.

Most sane voices are canvassing for Congress; Media too is in its payroll. Modi rule has many flaws; yet it's the best at the moment. The role of RSS is also changing with added responsibilities and concerns. The whole Hindutva ideological formulation is undergoing transformation

Govt servants aren't entitled to take part in active politics but academics freely dabble in it. This has resulted in erosion of any distinction between a professional politician and a professor. Nothing wrong but clash of interests as well as theoretical questions are a problem.

Community and collective affairs is an underlying concern in the literature of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, yet nothing much is conceived in terms of collective activity for progress in spirituality. For that would be religion with the possibility of degenerating into mechanicity.

Not a great number of people were attracted towards Sri Aurobindo or The Mother when they were alive. The situation is not much different at present. But free availability of their writings online is a huge advantage with infinite possibilities. Can galvanise the young generation

Respect for Sri Aurobindo as a Rishi is normal for many but awareness about his views is slender. As a thinker his ideas are certainly difficult to cover or to grasp but his vision of a better society or conscious life is the only means of cure. Turning to him therefore is a must

Darwin's theory of Evolution was a revolution but many don't accept it even today. Sri Aurobindo completed it by his concept of Involution which means original creation is of Divine origin and Supramental Consciousness is the next level to which we are in the process of evolving.

Sri Aurobindo left seventy years back but considering the span of human civilisation over seven thousand years his prediction of Supramental Consciousness is an altogether new proposition. Moreover supplementing scientific view with causal aspects provides an integral perspective.

Now, a small number of people including me regard Sri Aurobindo not merely as a visionary thinker but as the Supreme Divine. This implies he is present and guiding various events including our personal affairs. Obviously this is religion and enables us not to rely upon old faiths.

Sri Aurobindo's theory of Evolution in The Life Divine may seem speculative sans any substantiation but his The Secret of The Veda amply convinces of later day misinterpretations and distortions. Restoring faith in Mitra and Varuna in their pristine glory is definitely a priority

Aphoristic and abstract but the reality is there is no vacuum or any scope for beginning with a clean slate. Society with its long history and complex composition is so multilayered that conceiving any overnight transformation is a chimera. Further fearing too much is not proper.

It'd be nice if you specify your notion of Vedic culture for according to Sri Aurobindo prevalence of Astrology, Mythology, and Rituals has robbed the original Vedic focus on spirituality and self-culture. And he said all this much before Hindutva surfaced as an ideological pole.

This handle by @NathTusar encourages critical appreciation of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as Evolutionary trajectory isn't predetermined. I have no means to know whether current phase of Hindutva has any scope for renewal but its original narrow formulation can safely be rejected.

Politics, power, and material gains drive most even in this predominantly cerebral platform and I'm yet to come across anyone dealing with Theory in the Indian context. Consequently, no comparative analysis is possible vis-a-vis the scenario Sri Aurobindo has so boldly presented.

Christianity has unlimited global resources but it's not their fault if they are able to "fool people." Hindutva is in power now and how they respond must be a concern at the apex level now. My belief is that The Mother & Sri Aurobindo offer a safe option in between the two poles.

You may be right and as ordinary citizens we are helpless before such might. Those operating at the macro level should devise appropriate strategies. However each person should have the freedom of changing his religion as many times he wants and defending such right is necessary.

Materialism or physical objects don't rank much high in the spirituality index but quest for beauty is an underlying phenomenon. Buying a costly carpet or a fancy jacket can't be dismissed as merely hedonistic. Beauty in ordinary life forms a feeble urge towards Vedic immortality.

The Veda on one side and Savitri on the other form the whole trajectory of human aspiration. Mankind is grateful to The Mother & Sri Aurobindo for this magnificent gift. Those ignoring or oblivious are surely an unfortunate lot. Uttering even a line can usher in light and delight.

The Hound of Heaven, that's how Sri Aurobindo names a chapter of The Secret of The Veda evocatively alluding to Francis Thompson's poem in which the hound chases the hare unceasingly. Sri Aurobindo however is grappling with Sarama, the faculty of intuition https://t.co/YzXBaMbTul

Many on Twitter are so informed and concerned about the country that they deserve to be in the Parliament or Assemblies. Traditional norms of choosing people's representatives need to be suitably tweaked to draw talent from the digital public sphere. Democracy isn't a fixed form.

Indifference towards Sri Aurobindo is intriguing but we take it as his own will. Events unfolding in history is one of his prominent postulates and so it can be surmised that the time hasn't come. Nevertheless, emergence is always a possibility and hence vigilance has no off day.

With the Freedom struggle and World War as backdrop, it's simply amazing the way Sri Aurobindo reviewed and reinterpreted almost every aspect of human civilisation to offer an absolutely innovative orientation. Such a global perspective was unprecedented and remains so as of date.

Overdose of enthusiasm for Hindutva among followers of Sri Aurobindo is patently an anomaly and paradoxically Modi is teaching them moderation. Admiration for Vivekananda similarly needs to be toned down for right level of appreciation for Sri Aurobindo's scholarly contributions.

From the political perspective, this may be a fact but from the civilisational point of view, as Sri Aurobindo highlights, cross-cultural fermentation has been of immense help for future Evolution. So, India seems to be the ordained melting-pot; can't remain a puritanical habitat.

Destiny of the body is of significant concern for The Mother & Sri Aurobindo not in the sense of nutrition, physiology, or anatomy but reorientation of the cells by suffusing them with advanced textures of Consciousness and enhanced contours of intuitive perception and intimation.

Agree, the reality is unpalatable but the only way to expect any drastic transformation is through aspiration for harmony and not any demographic permutation or military intervention. Sri Aurobindo's predictions on this score are crystal clear. Evolution is very much on to this end.

While your delight might seem quite justified I'd like to speculate that in these seemingly bold initiatives, seeds of myriad mutinies are concealed. Sri Aurobindo's prediction of a #WorldUnion might necessitate a federal set up on home ground spreading to the entire subcontinent.
https://twitter.com/NathTusar/status/1218223820781178882?s=19

Sri Aurobindo thought of going back to the original ethos like adoration of Mitra and Varuna in their spiritual purity. Spurious and utilitarian tendencies that rose subsequently can't really be accomodated for obvious reasons. To say all streams are okay is source of corruption.
https://twitter.com/NathTusar/status/1218280168315179008?s=19

Nice summary but not only Hindutva but the very nomenclature of Hindu or Indic is also problematic. No such overarching identity existed ever and even today it's an anomaly. So all suppositions about it are misrepresentation and misleading. Even plurality per se can't be a virtue

Thanks. Yes, that was a crucial period and we were at best a dozen enthusiasts on the Net. Yet, the tasks are unfinished and the deserved quality is yet to arrive.

That would be great. Alongwith Sadhana, they can be considered as the best contribution of Balakrushna Dash. Bidushi Sipra Bose has no such songs even in Bengali. Real gems.

By quality I meant archiving and access like a Bengali site mh music archive with different types of playlists singer, composer etc. All these surely need organised work. Ideally there should be one site with links to audio songs, video songs, movie clips. https://t.co/mjOlteFvcU
