Savitri Era is the keynote

Once upon a time there was a book called "The Celestine Prophecy" which ruled for 3-4 years. It showed invisible interconnectedness and how we are propelled like puppets. Many were influenced and their lives changed. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo keep on reminding of such a reality.

Speaking of fiction, perhaps the closest one to the logic of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is that slim but great book by Richard Bach: Jonathan Livingston Seagull

Many are calling upon the citizens to remain united but what's the central glue? Unfortunately the country has failed to identify this even after seven decades. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo alone provide that keynote but our intellectuals have been myopic in not picking up that key

Deluge of content is driving people to more and more tiktokisation or fragmentation of consciousness whereas The Mother & Sri Aurobindo insisted on integration. This is an ontological U-turn whereby one discovers a central guiding force within oneself that's shaping future course

Sri Aurobindo arrived in the Tamil land on April 4, 1910. His prediction of the future is the only solution. The task is to understand and accept which can save from strenuous speculation. The role of The Mother is also crucial. Some are trying to malign her which is unfortunate!

Basic political lessons:
1. Upfront authoritarianism is better than clandestine dictatorship
2. Open revision of history or narrative is better than secret, invisible, or round about manoeuvre
3. Brazen fakery or clumsiness is better than its sophisticated or ivory tower versions

1. Hazardous to speculate long term in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic.
2. Time has a role and present status of RSS is not rock solid.
3. Drastic changes are possible in next five years.
4. Dynastification of Congress created a vacuum of which RSS is merely a beneficiary.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo postulated reconfiguration of Cell functioning as an Evolutionary necessity for attaining Immortality. Hope, this is a step forward in the direction of unraveling that mystery. How much volition or yoga can really engineer changes in biological process.

The sense of entitlement of some on Twitter is amazing. They say they would have made a much better Prime Minister without of course the inconvenience of contesting in any election. And this section of citizens regularly calls others as fascists and warns against authoritarianism

First codification; then implementation. First laying down the tenets and then following them. Thus be it Quality or Dharma, the blueprint is essential for building. Domain knowledge, therefore, is crucial; respecting it essential. This is the lesson number One of Dharma practice

1964 - Came in contact with The Mother & Sri Aurobindo and began reading their booklets and magazines in my village, Sailo Jharapara
1971 - Came to Bhubaneswar to join BJB College
1977 - Came to Sundargarh to join PNB
1988 - Came to Delhi
2000 - VRS & SELF

2005 - Access to Internet and instant publishing of a blogpost was a dream come true. A lot of learning during the last fifteen years
2012 - Joined Twitter which continues to be a second home
2020 - Lockdown but strayed into Elyments; so, great days ahead.

2005 - Centenary year of Bande Mataram movement provided the impetus for an epochal event. Google gave the opportunity for launching Savitri Era Learning Forum (SELF) Blog. Sify was at 64 kbps on my freshly acquired assembled AMD desktop with 256 mb of RAM

2006 - Savitri Era is our religion [though Sri Aurobindo and The Mother warned against creation of a cult, they themselves encouraged it. Sri Aurobindo himself deified The Mother and vice versa] From Sri Aurobindo Reader (1999) edited by Makarand Paranjape

2007 - Centenary year of Congress split at Surat provided the stimulus for SEP.
None of the present political parties in India is willing to toe the ideals of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. So, perforce we launch the Savitri Era Party. On to the streets then!

2008 - An unprecedented war of words broke out over The Lives of Sri Aurobindo by Peter Heehs. I refused to be under either faction and maintained a sane position. The book was banned and present generation is deprived of knowing about a great son of India

2015 - As I have been vocal about religion, politics, and anti-establishment themes, I remain an untouchable but somehow Nitte invites me to present a paper which was later published in their journal. Thankfully, that gives me the credentials of a scholar.

2016 - I hit upon the idea that overpopulation is at the root of all problems of India. Further, each language is a distinct nation like the European countries and hence the States should be granted Sovereignty under a loose Federation. Replica #WorldUnion

Granting Sovereignty to the States can itself form an alliance of 20 to 30 Nations with immense international clout. Local innovation and enhanced decibel level on multilateral fronts can really create an impact. Going the USSR way is the finest solution; also for US and China.

It was pretty historical by juxtaposing himself and Sri Aurobindo. The latter has never recovered in the public eye.

Almost all information on The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are in black and white. No one can add anything new except wild speculations and manufactured allegations. Yes, all enjoy the right to creative expressions like Heehs and entertaining adda opportunities.

I have been complaining against Marxist historians for ignoring Sri Aurobindo. Arunoday is a good person and well intentioned. He has expertise on many spheres but not on Sri Aurobindo. He should avoid writing on him till he reads adequately. Insulting The Mother too is not good.

No, AB is not a Marxist; he is staunchly against them. He like most RW handles doesn't follow me. I provide authentic information and objective views; a rarity in the present milieu. Yet most prefer what's pleasing instead of harsh truth. Being abreast of critical opinion needed.

Till now we are reading distorted history. So, if you can dig out the truth, that would be great. It's not the question of any person or organisation; their reputation matters little before the truth. So, there's no barrier; Indians deserve to know their past without adulteration.

Unfinished agenda and Evolutionary forces are sure to make it happen. Bande Mataram was written for Bengal and not for India. The song should be returned to the rightful owners. Sovereignty to the States is the best solution in the present circumstances. Colonial legacy must end.

1. By Colonial legacy, I meant India. It should return to its original status of multiple Kingdoms/States. Each language is a nation and must be recognised as such
2. As regards the song, it was of Bengal, for Bengal, and by Bengal. Most don't know that and it should be respected

"The key to happiness is setting realisable goals" but the Constitution of India is a compendium of myths. Such high standards are not humanly possible and so it flounders. Assuming that a MP will take care of thousands of families is a superstition. Hence, Sovereignty to States.

Democracy is a peace time pastime. The State comes to the rescue during a crisis. Thus the State needs to be near; within hearing distance. That's participatory unlike the present abstract or imperial model. Indians must turn India into a #BharataFederation as part of #WorldUnion

Ancient monuments of Greece, Rome, or Turkey are standing tall but in India they are all underground. Is there any particular reason for this? Recently a huge temple appeared from the bed of #Mahanadi in #Odisha. #PrachiValley is still shrouded in mystery.

India is running like a federation for the past two and a half months. So, CMs are in control. Modi isn't wholly responsible. Looking it that way is defective.

From the safety of my home, it's difficult to understand the kind of hardships so many are going through but then implementation of any policy will create its own victims. It's an unprecedented situation and the authorities are at pains in safeguarding the interests of citizens.

All are mental health experts now, but the same old foolishness and stupidity. Just successful social adjustment is not the solution; it's like moving in a round and round. Evolution imparts meaning, gives direction, and enhances worth. Only The Mother & Sri Aurobindo teach this.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo emphasise that the earth is one. They also express their dissatisfaction with the present political order and foresee a #WordUnion. It's an Evolutionary inevitability and no specific method has been set. Thus, this crisis is not without a silver lining.

When I'm hungry or thirsty, it's a human question; nothing to do with my religion, nationality, or linguistic ethnicity. This virus crisis, similarly, concerns the whole humanity. If it's not being tackled on that basis, then a greater disease afflicts the human race. Needs cure.

Most of life is basically a quest for direction. More important because of the plethora of options at every step. Many are oblivious but somehow are led towards it. Mere moving forward may not be the right way. Making a conscious decision is finally the sign of a diligent person.

Raja is about unadulterated merriment without much religious obligations or austerity. But it's not just tradition or mere repetition. Its occult significance has much to do with the current crisis if one is conversant with The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Yoga reposes responsibility.

It's not just a material or medical problem; the occult Evolutionary dimension is far more profound. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have spoken about such prospects much earlier. Unfortunately our Universities refuse to examine these aspects of futurology and students remain ignorant.

Weighty dimensions: Sri Aurobindo as a politician, Sri Aurobindo as a poet, Sri Aurobindo as a philosopher, or Sri Aurobindo as a yogi. But his most important work was at the level of body cells. Something the current crisis has much to imbibe and subscribe to; Vedic Immortality.

The virus is a killer and also a teacher. So many things were taken almost for granted all these years but nothing is assured now. Understanding life and its meaning was getting neglected, or even ignored. But no, the basics have to be learnt anew from The Mother & Sri Aurobindo.

Lack of accountability is understandable but why transparency deficit? Who authorises such stupidity?

Evolution is scouting for footholds

Yes that's rhetorical
Not a fact.
Unanimity is not the right criteria for a verdict on this complex subject. Better to keep the debate open.

That's not a good idea; a journal or magazine shouldn't be an encyclopaedia. Variety keeps readers engaged and retains the scope for emergent topics. Focus turns it staid and drains out energy to innovate or the necessity to be interesting so as to attract new readers. Just my 2c

Lockdown brings home the point that one's true ownership is over his home only. Yet, megalomania drives many to lecture on territories of whole countries and continents. Local should gain relevance and grow preponderance for driving out mentality of adolescence and false vanity.

The self-evident validity and legitimacy of the Gandhi-Nehru-Tagore-Radhakrishnan consensus has been challenged successfully but by not replacing that with Sri Aurobindo's multifaceted architecture, a vacuum has been created. Those who rush in to fill that huge space are pygmies.

Hero worship sustains self-esteem but ambition and critical scrutiny is necessary to find the right hero. Religion and culture resist this requisite as a result of which most rot in juvenility. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo provide the needed intellectual nourishment for growing up.

Well articulated but the solution in the transformed scenario is not very clear. That's because there's no philosophical approach although philosophy is at the very base of political right. Sri Aurobindo has wrote on these themes in detail but unfortunately they remain neglected.

Sanatan bandwagon is pushing Sanskrit but important for Savitri Erans to cling to SAVITRI in English. Reading one random page a day can do wonders. This is the only way to help ourselves till any reliable vaccine is found for Coronavirus. And therefore, it isn't merely religious.

Babaji Maharaj was emphatic about Nama Japa. It's a potent tool. Reciting SAVITRI has the power of lifting the atmosphere to a higher wave length. Mantra acts at the intersection of physical voice turning into transformative energy. Body is a chemical plant; voice is therapeutic.

Important to remember this responsibility. Aspiration for Supramental with necessary purity and intensity is the key. Meddling in current affairs or peddling piecemeal solutions is like fiddling when a city burns. Evolution is scouting for footholds for its next big leap forward.

The world around us functions through interplay of various elements of human nature. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo sought to transform their very foundation so that a better collective life emerges. Advent of Supramental force has the power to alter the basics. Otherwise, no escape.

We are used to a doctored Gandhi, a manicured Tagore, or a sanitised Subhas but the truth is that the truth is elsewhere. So, instead of reacting to sundry portrayals, creating one's own picture is fidelitous. In fact, that's how the world runs since Barthes' Birth of the Reader.

Blake you mention often but please check if the same inspiration can be traced to Coleridge or even Schiller. I think there's scope for some slackening of the strict fourfold mould for exploring more rarefied regions of flexible nature. Key ideas elsewhere

Tagore's popularity in Bengal hinges upon his upfront juxtaposing or even braiding personal or private feelings with emancipatory religious sentiments which the older Bhakti tradition had tried to camouflage behind mythological characters. Sri Aurobindo however would steer clear.

I was born and brought up in a traditional agricultural family in an Odisha village with round the year religious festivals. Now, like many others, I worship The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the Supreme Divine and try to follow their teaching. Castles of old religions will collapse.

The Mother famously said our aim is not success, it's perfection. It's a valiant proclamation in the face of practically no signs of any silver lining. So, repeating these has much utility. There are a million ways to escape but only one way to stay put. Her another timeless gem.

Despite my shoestring knowledge on international affairs, India, USA, and China going the USSR way is an Evolutionary inevitability. When and how early peple accept this reality depends upon how much Coronavirus can act as a catalyst or thrust its threat to make them fall in line

One is rightsizing for efficiency. Second is Sri Aurobindo foresees a #WorldUnion which can take shape and function efficiently once the hegemony of huge nations are over. So, more democratic and federal sentiments can grow to encompass global proportions.

Religion is an important factor in present day political discourse which transcends nationalities. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo however are confident of its loosing steam and succumbing to Evolutionary urge for human unity. Coronavirus is forcing this notion of We-are-one-as-humans

Perhaps the most important aspect to understand in Sri Aurobindo's philosophy is that Divine virtues or embodiments belonging to the typal world. Sri Aurobindo puts the human being with his psychic being one step ahead. He can transcend his limitations and be a part of Evolution.

Odia can be considered a near-dead language now as movies and media use a mixed variety. Difficult to fight against the times and so preservation of pure Odia songs of the second half of the last century is important. Books or art forms are less important.

It's useless to say something unless supported by data. Yes, agreed but Intuition is something that transcends data. Sympathy and intensity of emotions can create a situation of Knowledge by identity. Like how gas clouds condense to form new stars. No permanent foe for Evolution.

I'm no fan but feel relieved that a man from grassroots having years of training under RSS is the Prime Minister at the time of an unprecedented crisis. Any more competent or qualified person would have been a misfit. It's not about handling the crisis but about knowing the pains

Migrant workers' crisis has shown that they don't have to migrate. Sovereignty to States can make it possible. This is a new opportunity of State level nationality and rebuilding economy with cultural landscape intact. Central govt. is absolutely redundant in this whole scenario.

Lockdown has brought into focus the role of a safe home but most Indians are deprived of that. A 2BHK flat should be available at ₹10 Lakh across the country and necessary policies should be a priority. Shipra Riviera, Indirapuram, with 1260 flats, is still a model to replicate.

In a crisis situation like this, at least three States can be said to have exhibited sufficient independence and autonomy without much help from the Centre. They are Odisha, West Bengal, and Kerala. This new found confidence can be contagious with languages as fissiparous factor.

Many are ridiculing the focus on local. Now, consider a scenario with the States as sovereign and they compete with each other. How invigorating the same situation becomes without altering much of the realities! So, Independence is crucial for unlocking the true local potentials.

From Evolutionary perspective, it's a difficult job to judge. Ordinary notions of Reforms and Development are crucial but the incremental and cumulative dimensions may not be conducive. So, the emergence aspect retains its relevance. Present crisis seems to be pregnant with that.

New Age and Management popularised notions like leadership, success, and wellbeing. They have brought them into focus as achievable. There's no denying that a tremendous degree of success has been possible during the last two decades. Yet, expecting continuous growth is doubtful.

6. Faith, sincerity, and surrender

Twelve qualities of The Mother
Assigning Vedic significance to flowers

Education aspect is very important in the present context. Without a firm anchor and proper direction, drifting is easy. Sri Aurobindo represents Modernity imbibing the best elements from tradition. No better example of a right mix than his yogic insights.
Sri Aurobindo has hinted at Sanskrit possessing original root sounds that are self-creative. However no such quest is on and subjective findings are suspect. As regards the Mantra aspect Sri Aurobindo's poetic output in English is more accessible and relevant for the modern times

National, religious, and ethnic divisions are playing havoc and The Mother & Sri Aurobindo offer the most feasible solution. SAVITRI is pivotal for the future and mankind must rally round it for perennial peace, progress, and harmony. Supramental consciousness must reign over us.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are symbols of higher consciousness and hence no compromise with the past. Men's ignorance of their relevance is part of our prayer and aspiration for a sublime sequence of cultural efflorescence. They have "attempted all, prepared, achieved all for us"

Veda doesn't mean that one has to go through complex poetical creations in dreary Sanskrit. Sri Aurobindo has made the job easier by psychological interpretation of the deities. The Secret of the Veda by him explained originally in English is an essential reading for all Indians.

From the Veda to SAVITRI, that's the trajectory the followers of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have to popularise. Both are unfamiliar and difficult arena but the key to the future of humanity is hidden there. Present crisis is the right pretext to delve into context of these texts.

The PM is highlighting the role of service including innovation or jugaad in Man ki baat which might form the bedrock of economy. The Mother too experimented with such model in Sri Aurobindo ashram as well as Auroville. Need to study and explore its potentials for an alternative.

Even, their intellectuals are not free from such imaginary imperatives. Refusing to learn from Western scholars may be justified due to predominantly Marxist perspectives. So, looking for the right direction should be a priority. Here, Sri Aurobindo provides the best alternative.

BJP supporters suffer from three falsities:
1) Glorified past forming the theme of an attractive narrative
2) Not recognising the present reality of religious or political diversity
3) Believing that Sanskrit or Ayurveda etc. are useful for future excellence or India's greatness.

Most followers of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo just copy and paste instead of discussing or contextualising. That's safe. We have been dealing with current affairs for which there's no direct guidance available. It's dicey but needed to be attempted for collaboration with Evolution

In a black swan scenario like the present when whole paradigms are in the melting pot and we invoke The Mother & Sri Aurobindo for right Evolutionary intervention, some visible change on this score shouldn't be ruled out. Vedic imperatives for #SavitriEra.
Competition is said to be the cornerstone of modern economic system but what reigns is mafia, monopolies, or cartels with govt association. So Capitalism like Democracy remains a chimera since both are inconsistent with human nature. Liberty-wallahs should revise theory suitably.

"Sunlight is the best disinfectant" and transparency is the need of the hour. Mafia, monopolies, and cartels run mostly with Govt connivance and aided by information asymmetry undermine society and backstab humanity. Breaking their nexus needs to be the priority in this calamity.

As Akshaya Mohanty remarks in his Akashvani interview, he had not much attraction for Odissi songs. Raaga-based songs couldn't flourish in Odia except for the lone Sagare adhira. Later, Bhubaneswari Misra added a few. Bengali is very rich in this respect.
After many decades, heard Sajafula today; Kshiti Prakash Mohapatra and Sebarani Mohapatra. Nice songs; liked the duet. Akashvani should upload old Sajafula songs to YouTube; they are great creations with thematic unity by a single lyricist. Cover July 1969
Thank you. All friends and well-wishers of Odisha should join to highlight respect and concern for local languages and their preservation. This #OdiaSong by Kantakabi also shows how intimately close Odia is to Sanskrit not only in vocabulary but also in pronunciation. @maidros78
Dear @maithilithakur madam,
Yesterday I chanced upon your songs and liked them immensely. My request to you is to sing one Odia song. It's an old radio song but not available on the web. This is a cover version which you can recreate to its original glory.

These are symptoms but what's the remedy to this malady? A step by step approach can help. Eulogising great men of the past is so common but recognising current talents is rare. If that's done in a systematic manner, then this habit will grow and crab mentality will wane. Thanks.
1. Population has become mixed with 3rd or 4th generation migrants.

Let's come to brass tacks:
~Each one should tweet about someone who is doing good work in some sphere and the scenario will change drastically within a month or two.
~SM is for communication but people are extremely reluctant to RT. So let's make it a point to RT one tweet daily.

Depth is only so much as you can measure; Je pakshi ude jete dura

Majority is not synonymous with Democracy. Authorisation is by majority vote but thereafter an elite minority rules. Top Party committee, therefore, is of immense importance. Besides, lateral pulls matter. But all these collapsing in a crisis is not improbable. Wisdom is slender.
Concept of a specialist is overrated. In fact, idea comes from outside and is not necessarily a property of any person. Besides, it's irrespective of office or status. Nature has a penchant for dusting off the undeserving for stimulating fresh enchantment. Democracy facilitates.
Current situation is not a spontaneous one but has been forced by Govts as a precautionary measure. No one can predict the future but the lessons are clear.
Earth is one.
Humanity is one.
Religious and National identities are futile.
Smaller nations better as adminstrative units.
Though it's an extraordinary crisis situation, each State declaring a lockdown can be seen as a baby step towards Sovereignty and the Evolutionary intention behind it is unmistakable. Politics and economy undergoing paradigm shift is also inevitable. Sri Aurobindo is at the helm.
I have been active on the web under the banner of Savitri Era since 2005 but couldn't secure the support of anyone. Those who read Sri Aurobindo feel so knowledgeable that any collective endeavour becomes difficult. Yet, there's scope for unanimity like on forming smaller nations
While your assessment is not unfounded, philosophical observations tend to be difficult because of their abstract nature. Idea, when germinates, has its own validity and force irrespective of gestation of reaching common folk. That's the general assumption
Praying is the most contentious aspect since different gods and goddesses look absurd against the backdrop of a monistic virus. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo thought about all these aspects more than a century ago but educated Indians don't bother to listen to them. That's alarming!
Ultimately, it's about understanding oneself; one has to start somewhere. Sri Aurobindo enacted a Gita like situation in Kolkata but the real war he fought was against Hitler in Puducherry. Thus nationalism is not his final motive; its Evolution, and how it can tackle even virus.

Scores of metaphysical frameworks, theological formulations, or contesting ontologies. Myopic worldviews of science add to the woe of which people are helpless prisoners. Thankfully Sri Aurobindo provides the most stable picture of the world and a secure Evolutionary future of it
Events unfolding and the story unrolling while watching a film feels normal but the truth is that every bit of it has been executed in advance. Life similarly is not a spontaneous or random movement as it appears superficially, writes Tusar Nath Mohapatra.
When #SriAurobindo wrote "Earth wheeled abandoned in the hollow gulfs" in SAVITRI, it was to show the huge contrast to what was to come. So, being aware about the intention of Evolution in all activities is the very skill of our works: योग: कर्मसु कौशलम् |
Science and governance are superficial aspects; being aware of the occult dimension is the real challenge. Obviously no one has access to it but some external actions like reciting SAVITRI, either individually or in small groups, can have tremendous effect on building resistance.
Old remedies are ineffective for new diseases; those peddling their own whims as substitute are not the only ones to blame. Collaborating with Evolution is an urgency; the message of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is precisely this. SM helps spread the word; ignore at your own peril.
The importance of the States being awarded Sovereignty should be best appreciated in moments like this. Large nations are monstrosities which need to be obliterated. Time to grant maximum autonomy to the States and freedom to deal with Foreign affairs independently of the Centre.
Various remedial measures are being adopted but reciting a page of SAVITRI by #SriAurobindo everyday can be considered a potent means too. Even having a copy on the desk has its own occult effect. SAVITRI belongs to the whole humanity and its future sans any narrow categorisation

Sounds rhetorical but this is the crux of the problem, especially, after advent of Hindutva and its harnessing for capturing power. That it won't introduce a slew of anomalies is to be naive. In Sri Aurobindo's writings we don't find this dichotomy but now one has to be cautious.
I didn't know my gender, caste, race, religion, region, language, nationality, or blood type when I was born nor had any hand in choosing them. Yet, social existence depends so much upon them and their ossification. The Mother is a symbol for transcending all these constructions.

Sovereignty for the States is a must for local action and innovation. I have been campaigning for the last three years but no one takes it seriously. Sri Aurobindo foresaw a #WorldUnion a century back but he is ignored. Unusually large nations are ineffective and pose a threat.
Any one can support the idea so that people are aware and at least debate. SM is the best means.
Fighting Communism or Hindutva is not the real challenge as the present crisis underscores. Larger Ontological picture is more relevant for which the Yogic insights of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are immensely instructive. Modernity is key but Supraphysical realm matters much more

This handy compilation is three to four decades old but remains neglected. Let's hope both the scientific community and those dealing with Humanities look at it for some bold pointers at this time of crisis. @NathTusar
#SriAurobindo #WorldUnion #FiveDreams
If we believe in the theories of Sri Aurobindo, each of us is evolving and there's no static position or firm identification. More so for those in the public arena. Still more accentuated for those who write or lecture. So, being part of that journey should be the right approach.

What Bankimchandra or Rabindranath did to be remembered? With forty volumes to his credit, Sri Aurobindo is a great poet and writer. As most of his work is in English, Bengalis not knowing him is understandable. You may not know him but his admirers are spread all over the world.
The middle class mentality expects the dirty job to be done by somebody else. So when Sri Aurobindo left the scene, it was not taken kindly. Tagore wrote a novel reinforcing this sentiment which was used to the hilt to marginalise Sri Aurobindo, his books, and religious following
Humility is good but in your tweet you have insulted the memory of a great poet and philosopher like Sri Aurobindo. An apology is due.
Why 11 years? How do you know? Tagore wrote one poem or visited him once later on but that doesn't mean he agreed with him. Sri Aurobindo preferred to keep safe distance from his famous contemporaries because his work and priorities belonged to an altogether different wavelength.
You seem to possess more truth than the British investigative agencies and the Courts had in 1909. We must know your detailed charge sheet against Sri Aurobindo and how they are historically accurate. Spreading baseless rumour on Internet is absolutely irresponsible and unethical
Please desist from off the cuff remarks; it's infinitely important to understand who Sri Aurobindo is, why he came, and how his work is relevant even in this viral crisis. Overlooking it is a colossal loss for the humanity. So being serious about him is the most challenging task.
I don't have any extra information than what Sri Aurobindo has written. And the answer is crystal clear but there's no remedy to prejudice. All our historians suffer from the latter. So self-study is the only recourse although it takes a long time. Chittaranjan Das was his lawyer
Downfall may not be a right description since Sri Aurobindo himself has recorded about the dismal state of affairs prevailing then. Still high humanitarian concerns have fostered on Bengal soil and it shouldn't be measured in merely economic terms. Bengal teaches India even today
Sri Aurobindo stresses on cosmological aspects which are certainly esoteric but his task is to bust obscurity to make it common knowledge just like an invisible virus. Such awareness about hidden forces of life can bring tremendous development in our human affairs. #SriAurobindo
Much more aware and enlightened people are there in Bengal today but they don't get limelight. Plus access to Web. Because human issues have multiplied and become much more complex over the last century. So, you need tons of sensibilities. E.g., judgement on a Foreigner's right.

Attempting to read The Life Divine by #SriAurobindo should form a basic challenge; doesn't matter if the first encounter is a failure. Even that has got many advantages. For all scholarship or expertise is inchoate and infructuous without this crucial tome
The Life Divine is not exactly a guide book for the current crisis but it's a manual for all seasons. A random page can intimate the vastness of the canvas and how subtexts are more crucial. It also assures of the sure steps of Evolution behind the rough and tumble of daily life

An easier course is to allow Sri Aurobindo to explain as he has done in a dozen volumes over a century back. Consulting them can open new vistas of understanding and intuitive interpretation revealing the true Vedic foundation of not only the present crisis but future Evolution.
Please random check at
You can read The Secret of the Veda. The first chapter itself can give a picture of alternative interpretations and how meanings differ radically.
I don't believe that you have read the books by Sri Aurobindo otherwise you wouldn't be discussing these minor points. That's by way of clarification in the interest of knowledge and no offence intended. Thanks.
I have already mentioned the example of a word, Gopalaka in this context for which Sri Aurobindo provides a better interpretation in his The Secret of the Veda. One has to read at least the first chapter to know about it.
One specific word is Gopalaka and how to understand it, for on its meaning stands the whole edifice of defective interpretations perpetrated for ages. Overlooking it doesn't amount to committing any wrong but one who has read The Secret of the Veda can't.
Acquiring knowledge and right understanding is a voluntary thing; can be undertaken by self only. I requested you to read, provided the link, and pointed out a specific defect. Thereafter, it's your choice and level of curiosity. Thanks.
You are right since I want your understanding of things should be addressed by Sri Aurobindo himself. You can start with the first chapter of The Secret of the Veda and then see what happens. That's reasonable, I presume. #SriAurobindo #FiveDreams #WorldUnion
With due respect, I don't agree with you as nobody has direct access to knowledge. We all use texts and translations that are subject to interpretation. So comparing them has much advantage instead of following something uncritically. The rest depends upon how far one may venture
If requesting to read a book on Veda is such a bad thing to do, then it's futile to be in Twitter. The book, and not myself, should be the subject of discussion.

Many don't go beyond Thoughts and Aphorisms of Sri Aurobindo and quote from it to ridicule others. Life however is more complex and #SriAurobindo himself has written volumes to examine it from different angles. So avoiding any signalling of finality or false promise is necessary.
Limited exposure should not prevent one from appreciating the gigantic treasure of writings in different languages on human affairs by thinkers in diverse fields over the last three thousand years. Sri Aurobindo occupies a very prominent place but hasn't been examined adequately.
Various academic disciplines have their own validity and utility but shouldn't be allowed to dominate one's worldview. For that, The Mother Sri Aurobindo are more appropriate source. Similarly, avoiding ideological straight-jacket of some political party is also a prudent course.
Atheists enjoy all benefits given by God but deny his existence. Similarly, those who denounce liberalism enjoy all its advantages but never realise own hypocrisy of criticising it. Why such duplicity is perpetrated is difficult to understand and that too by the highly educated.

Easy to theorise by riding piggyback on eloquence but history, society, and memory are far more complex affairs. A more realistic response can go a long way in a balanced evaluation of the Evolutionary compulsions of various episodes of the past especially before the West arrived.
While it's natural to examine alternative scenarios to understand this viral crisis, it's profitable to study a living experience like Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Besides, Satprem's futuristic books like The Mind of the Cells or Evolution II are highly relevant.
Good counter view but from the safety of the gallery since advantages of Govt measure is already in place. So, no pressure mounting every minute nor fresh inputs pouring in every hour. You have certain grounds but they are equally speculative to be doable.
Most are debating whether the Govt. is right or wrong but overlook that the present crisis is about the people themselves. How they can collaborate with the right Evolutionary forces is the task but our high profile management experts and trend analysts are unable to sense merit.
Role of media is to scout for alternative and marginalised viewpoints but in our country they rather ignore and supress. When so much of ignorance and confusion on the pandemic prevails, the firm voice of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo should earn prominence. Who can understand this?
The nation can celebrate March 29 in a big way by highlighting the role of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo in producing quality philosophy and universal practice. Recognising how their Integral paradigm can play a big role in fighting the present pandemic is the high need of the hour.
The Mother reached Puducherry on March 29, 1914 and met Sri Aurobindo. ARYA came out on August 15 in which several books were serialised. They knew the importance of right philosophy which is no less crucial than right medicine or vaccine. Educated Indians must realise this fact.
Simply saying don't panic is not enough. There must be proper background to support such positive emotion when faced with extreme situation. That's basically the function of philosophy and amassing some is necessary like Bank balance. Quality matters and Sri Aurobindo is the best
Sri Aurobindo wrote about #WorldUnion a century back but it's yet to percolate. Present crisis provides a very good opportunity to debate the issue. West couldn't produce a World Philosophy due to racial prejudices. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are extremely relevant on many counts

Savitri by Sri Aurobindo is the safest guide
["O seer, in the earth's strange twi-natured life
By what pitiless adverse Necessity
Or what cold freak of a Creator's will,
By what random accident or governed Chance ...
Is it thy God who made this cruel law?]
Mantra from Savitri
by Sri Aurobindo:
Hers is the mystery the Night conceals;
The spirit’s alchemist energy is hers;
She is the golden bridge, the wonderful fire. ||81.22||
Let the whole world submit to its power and light to face this worldwide crisis.
Was reminded of the poem Thought the Paraclete by Sri Aurobindo

Was there five years back. The best attraction of Karwar beach is perhaps the hill inside the sea. Kali river bridge is also a charming spot. Worth visiting.

Odia identity is more pronounced on the web than the real world
A secular festival like #PakhalaDibasa is a good occasion for some nostalgic sentiments. Similar level of enthusiasm needed to make all old songs available online like
The corollary is that he questioned the authenticity of traditionally revered texts by introducing suspicion and giving credence to parallel narratives. This postmodernist technique might have contributed much for fostering a liberal and plural religious environment across Odisha
1. Sure but not easy like most other things in life. Yet being conscious or judicious should be the task.
2. Many shortcomings are there and for that coordinated effort of five to six persons needed. Let's hope it emerges from these discussions.
3. Many have contributed greatly.
Many thanks for sharing this iconic and priceless Odia song. Hope you can locate information on the original of Tulasi chaura mule
So, what do you propose? I think govt is doing its part and local organisations are there. It can be given a push but that may not mean promoting quality. Music appreciation is a personal thing and it should develop organically and spontaneously; through a process of elimination.
The media scene was so restricted in those days that to come across a photograph like this was rare. Tima, our Mukri, was popular in Krushi Sansar. Even today, we remember most of our singers by name only and not by their appearance. Thanks @SuryadeoSurya.
Oh, great! Such a futuristic composition but I don't remember to have heard it before. Thanks for preserving for the next generation; you are a veritable institution now.
Only 13 views in the last two months. Sabu kusumara base - enchanting lyrics by Narayan Prasad Singh surely deserves more listeners.
Having almost no personal involvement with records, cassettes, or CDs, I retain my fascination for the soft power of the songs instead of hardware. I might have missed many things but thematic recalling of songs is not on the basis of their placement in albums or time of release.
Thanks. That's because I love them. Radio being the only source of entertainment those days and Odia culture at its best. Those radio plays featuring Himanshu Bhusan Sabat and Jharana Das. Nadiya Bihari Mohanty of SS. There used to be a song: Hajigala bayasa, michhe khoji basana!
Given my near total lack of exposure to other forms of music, what are your recommendations? What are the possible linkages to Odia songs? One is Chandramalli hase; there may be more. But, we are perhaps more attached to the lyrics than the sheer musical element, which should be.
Bayasara Krushnachuda, however, is not in splendid isolation. Thankfully, we have a brilliant rendering by Sisira Das in a haunting tone but the lyrics at places seems to be a bit gender neutral. Rangani also features which reminds of several other songs.
As first Sajafula song, Jhari jhari jae has a historic eminence but I somehow can't reconcile to it being companion to a great song like Asadha shyama sadhi. Bayasara Krushnachuda rather seems apt. Btw I used to sing Asadha shyama in Matlab nikal gaya tune
We had all kinds of flowers in our garden but Krushnachuda came much later. Till then, this heavenly song of Akshaya Mohanty used to do the job. Must rank at the top of what @OdiaCulture
reminisced recently about the connoisseur's song in non-film category
[Naipaul's essay on how, in the Trinidad of his youth, the flowers of the Caribbean were rendered invisible by the unseen daffodils of text-book English poets...frangipani which seemed to me to be redolent of all that was mysterious, desirable and secret.]

Sanskrit texts don't contain self-evident truth

We have seen three phases in the course of the last sixty years.
1. Socialism will bring equality and freedom from exploitation
2. Market will force freedom and access to equal opportunities
3. Internet will usher in transparency and fairplay
The three have failed; Cartels rule.
Individual is the greatest feat and mystery of creation (Exclusive Concentration principle of Sri Aurobindo) for without it no Theory is possible. Gold is known as noble metal as it refuses to react or corrode. Still ceteris paribus or other things being constant is a supposition.
While this aim sounds impressive, it's impossible to have a view from nowhere. Bias or prejudice lurk always and the urge to win brownie points. The function of philosophy however is to understand the world sans distortions imposed by socio-cultural lenses

There are many comparative studies but I haven't come across any juxtaposing Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo. Especially, Raja Yoga vs. Synthesis of Yoga. Those who are conversant with both can provide outlines for the benefit of young. How far SA is indebted to SV needs to be told
Philosophy is no less a political enterprise with commercial ramifications like publishing and museums. So, reordering is full of hurdles. Spring cleaning, nevertheless, has its utility for blowing cobwebs away. So sane approach needed instead of a full-scale cultural revolution.
The Meeting of the East and the West in Sri Aurobindo's Philosophy by S.K. Maitra is still the best book for understanding not only the basics of philosophy but also where philosophy as a subject is headed. D.P. Chattopadhyaya too.

The area from Ganga to Godavari constitutes a single cultural heritage but three different States and three major languages have brought some sharp divisions. Yet a lot many cultural overlapping are conspicuous. #PrachiValley indicates a much older civilisation to rewrite history

Efforts of the last seventy years have evaporated. Why? It's not easy to diagnose and therefore it's likely to fester. Sri Aurobindo talked about these a hundred years back. The Human Cycle is a classic which has solutions to many problems of the present.

Not enough to be proud of Konark temple alone. How to build the future is very important. There are professionals and experts but there is a lack of thinkers. All have a responsibility to build a hatred-free society. #SriAurobindo helps in the growth of all aspects of personality.

Please look around you. The level of education may have increased to some extent, but ignorance is spreading. Everyone is ready to bow before tradition and worship superstition. Prosperity has made people inactive, the brain lazy. #SriAurobindo is the cure for all these diseases.

So much of content on Sri Aurobindo is available online but young generation is incapable of taking advantage. Obviously some guidance or endorsement is needed. Present ideological frameworks don't permit curiosity to foster. So, an aggressive approach for reaching out is needed.

First and foremost thing to remember is that after the advent of The Mother Sri Aurobindo all past texts and traditions have been reinvented. So unless one is sufficiently acquainted with their priorities, old doctrines and tenets are likely to persist. Nothing less, nothing more.

There's no denying that talk of Gita, Vedanta, Veda, or Yoga repels the young generation. So how the teachings of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo can be imparted is a question of skillful packaging and careful branding. So many radical facets but no qualified educators to disseminate.

Sri Aurobindo valorises volition and Savitri denotes its acme. From a political point of view, fighting hegemony is a perpetual concern and giving voice to the voiceless can never lose value or relevance. Meta-narratives do overwhelm and escaping from their dominance is important.

A timely essay by @KS1729 but The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have taken the concern to a different dimension. Eg The Destiny Of The Body: The Vision and the Realisation in #SriAurobindo's Yoga by Jugal Kishore Mukherjee is an excellent treatise on the subject.

See, politics is still in infancy in India. This is the first occasion to come out of Congress clout but not fully because of International pressure. Hence Gandhi, no change in text books. So, you must understand the constraints. Challenge is to stabilise and then attempt slowly.
That's obvious, he got the core 25% votes but additional 10% too. But that's past. He has to plan future strategies and win more States. As PM he has no dearth of advisors. So the mould that you want him to fit into doesn't exist. It's irrelevant now except as a fond hope of some
We know how he won; image management and event management including Muzaffarnagar. It's a gamble, he had to fight intra-party tussle. No need to recount them now; it's extremely difficult for anyone to succeed in politics. So, its not correct that he won because of Hindutva only.
No one before him had won majority. Modi not only crawled his way to the top but also retains it after six years. Given the diversity of India, he is trying to broad-base his support; this is mere survival. So, where is question of sticking to narrow ideology and loosing his job?

That's great. KB too stresses on his experiences. So, nothing to dispute. But I try to be politically correct and that clashes. Let's hope there will be some resolution in the future driven by circumstances. May be some other perspective emerges.
No disputing with your apprehensions but from what I have observed, it's not in human hands. Always some absurdity becomes normal, I can cite so many examples. So the current phase is also as per Divine plan, there must be some purpose, even contradiction. Expecting ideal in vain.
Overall problem is this:
Each person has his impressions and opinions and it's not easy to reconcile them. It's only by putting faith on Sri Aurobindo that we are able to check or test. But on many points it may not be possible. So what's so apparent to you may seem flawed to me.

Okay, fine. But Grace is more a factor than competence. And Grace unfolds only in the context of consent and work. You know it all.
Why don't you attempt a review yourself; I can publish it. Will generate some interest among the young as regards the task of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo.
What you read is from a review of the book by Gagdad Bob. So the words are his and not of the author. Bob might be paraphrasing in an interesting way for his Christian readers. You can read the post in two parts. A lot of things to know; this is the real context of Sri Aurobindo.

1. Congress and the Left were successful in keeping Sri Aurobindo outside academia.
2. Hindutva has nothing to gain from #SriAurobindo and hence pays lip service.
3. Independent scholars picking him up has remote chance.
4. Public intellectuals don't know him.
5. So, Self-study.

Devotion for The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is spontaneous but, if harnessed to build ecosystem for some ulterior motive, turns out to be spurious. Similarly if their writings are quoted selectively to justify own pet agenda then it's knavery. Breaking resistance to SA is an urgency.

Working for Democracy, Diversity, and Modernity is a necessity in India and Sri Aurobindo fits in well in this project. His #FiveDreams and #WorldUnion are sufficiently futuristic to hold the interest and attention of the young generation. Needed right attunement at right moment.

Instead of working on the ground to create a society where milk and honey will flow, most Hindutva votaries are engaged in whining and spewing hatred. For them, it's self-esteem and career but there should be some consideration for the hapless audience who have to swallow poison.

Being in power Hindutva is attracting more and more people and so it's not surprising many followers of Sri Aurobindo falling prey. This is also true for various Centres and Institutions. May be younger generation won't find any difference but upholding superiority is sacred duty

From the Marxists' point of view who find zero value in Sri Aurobindo, his outstanding relevance is that he exists despite all their attempts to banish him and this very fact is a testimony to his towering scholarship heralding an Integral paradigm. The Mother met him on March 29

Even if political and philosophical dimensions of Sri Aurobindo's writings are kept aside, the artist in him has an enduring appeal. One can read his works to savour the beauty in an ever-widening horizon. This is no less utility apart from the self-management principles of Yoga.

Marrying Mazzini to Bankim, Sri Aurobindo is credited to have forged a novel brand of nationalism but reliance on Sanskrit texts were rather formal. Deeper debts came later but their implications remain unfulfilled to which is hinged the whole future of #SriAurobindo's prophecies.

While people in general not finding any utility in Sri Aurobindo's thinking ability can be understood, erudite followers forcing a straight-jacket is riddlesome. Lack of concrete result leads to idiosyncratic interpretations and whimsical representations. A free-for-all situation.

Sri Aurobindo's writings need to be seen in this light and that explains why a large majority of people are absolutely callous about them. That apart, simply implying that his works are futuristic doesn't absolve them of perceived barrenness. Mystical or poetic is another oblique.

Sanskrit texts have existed for many centuries but human difficulties have accentuated. Further, there's no sure method to ascertain that they contain self-evident truth or their prescriptions will give desired results. So at best they constitute a habitus prone to motived misuse.

Though unrevised, The Bourgeois and the Samurai essay is a frank admission by Sri Aurobindo about various sociological realities of his time particularly in Bengal. It was never published during his lifetime. Also echoes Hegel's critique of the Philistine.

Sri Aurobindo wrote in the context of Foreign rule and popular Sanskrit texts provided the ammunition. That doesn't mean that he was sure of their efficacy. He simply continued a tradition of the previous century of which there was no visible effect till then despite Vivekananda.

Further, having lived in a village surrounded by all kinds of religious activities for years, I'm sceptical about the salutary claims you make. But then, again, it's personal and subjective; local and contingent. Btw, can litter be used in a positive sense? Thanks. #SriAurobindo
See, I don't have to educate you on the sociological or psychological dimensions of what you say and its subjective nature. That's why we don't have to believe someone blindly who has spent his life in an Ashram. Or even, who is not married. There's merit; but it's not foolproof.
Can understand your concern but the basic dilemma is as regards direction. Which road is right? Whom to look for guidance? You have certain convictions; that's fine. But I don't think you can implement them in a real life situation. So certainty is suspect

Claiming that only your tweets emanate from The Mother's lap and my tweets from a dunghill is itself a sign of hare-brain. Your stance on Hindu issue, moreover, is puerile and partisan. Yet, you are eminently entitled to your views and so called unseen experiences.
It's not about me. I'm concerned about the educated younger generation who might be seduced by your fine English. Try you must but any fiasco will give a huge bad name to The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Don't forget about that. Hope @auroviryavaan will agree.
For KB, Can you give any indication of a timeframe? Then there are other questions like diversity. Unless articulated at length, such cryptic comments are no more than glorified quackery. False promises and unverified postures need to be avoided in public.

Defining spirituality may not be difficult but finding one with access to that is. Religion on the other hand is like an umbrella under which different persons with common faith take shelter for social utilities. The Mother among others is one such theme.
Precisely and that's where a new religion is born. And a new thread!

Darwin's Evolution and Nietzsche's Overman backed by élan vital of Bergson had created a despotic prospect which Sri Aurobindo corrected by adding Vedic genesis. Psychologically aligning with these ideals can energise myriad forces waiting for collaborating with future Evolution.

People accuse each other but don't appear to seek any solution to the quagmire. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have undertaken herculean labour to accomplish epochal transformation. Reading their books can bring positive changes in society. One can choose from prose, plays, or poetry.

Sri Aurobindo's invitation is for renouncing the burden of the past so as to discover future treasures. Nostalgia however is a disease with most Indians and hence it's necessary not to be weighed down by the past glory or hero worship. Mind can occupy huge territories in a minute

Instead of tweeting KG level facts on Sri Aurobindo, reading the Wikipedia article on him is more profitable
More intrepid can check his Complete Works and allied resources

Why VIPs, many of the students themselves are a deluded lot. They should have been at the forefront of intellectual leadership of the country but alas! And, the burden is on this poor handle coming from a village school in Odisha - with modest education - dreaming of #WorldUnion.
#SriAurobindo International Centre of Education has been in existence for the last seventy years but the nation hasn't been able to imbibe its gains as a result of which we witness enormous confusion around us. Many VIPs visit the Ashram but forget about real take away of SAICE.

Defying the British was the challenge in Revolutionary days of Sri Aurobindo but today defying tradition, rituals, and other superstitions arising out of mythological fiction assumes the same urgency. Odisha can be said to be far ahead than the rest of the country, on this count.

Delhi violence will reverberate for a long time vis-a-vis ideology and theory and Gandhi is likely to be invoked in renewed vigour. We don't harbour any visceral hatred for him and people are free to draw inspiration. Sri Aurobindo however offers the right Evolutionary direction.

Agreed that there're no final answers for life's questions but that doesn't mean we should spread irrationality. Personal beliefs and public position need to be separated. Keeping in mind human diversity is essential in all public affairs. So accommodating plurality should be aim.
Atheists enjoy all benefits given by God but deny his existence. Similarly, those who denounce liberalism enjoy all its advantages but never realise own hypocrisy of criticising it. Why such duplicity is perpetrated is difficult to understand and that too by the highly educated.

Hypocrisy and doublespeak is another cowardly trait. If you are so convinced of your logic then spell out your agenda in clear terms. Why hum and haw and eat words? And all bravado by being anonymous! Courage of conviction and power of articulation needed. Avoiding knowledge sad.
Basics of Political Science are being twisted in the name of Dharma and such other dubious assumptions. This perversion leads to many other whims and corroborating absurd themes. Enmity clouds judgement and lends justifications to what are patently wrong. No leadership on values.

What prompted him is not known - for there seems to be no immediate context - but just a week after this tweet, Delhi witnessed the worst of what was warned. Now, it's almost impossible to crawl back to the earlier position. A colossal loss of moral stature

Gita is not an ideal prescription for modern generation

Instead of one Capital it's better to grant Sovereignty to the States on linguistic basis so that there are at least two dozen capital cities to galvanise economy as well as local culture. Right now over a billion people are suffering from the difficulties of a large joint family.

Sanskrit, Mythology, and Rituals are responsible for creating an anti-modern image of traditional religion. Sri Aurobindo has done his best to salvage the situation but unfortunately no takers. His scientific self-management system duly anchored in philosophy is ideal for young.

Nothing wrong but ground realities are lightyears away. Such utopian idea is no different from the imaginary Hindu Rashtra at the other extreme in which so many seem to live. A more realistic conception of man in his organic setting is in order, now that the Science Day is over.
Sri Aurobindo's mature writings belong to the period from 1914 to 1950 which saw two World Wars. He is the only thinker in the whole world who understands both West and the East well. His Cosmology is not final but the most coherent. He won't agree that such a society is possible.
You are highlighting what you have read with which I'm reasonably conversant. But you haven't paid attention to a very significant domain of knowledge, i.e., Sri Aurobindo. Time to catch up with that. The Life Divine has no match.  @freemarkets5
This is good from the academic point of view; that's how young minds are trained to focus for any problem solving but correlations can't be cut away. Ontology therefore is important for arriving at right inferences. No one to surpass Sri Aurobindo and his Secret of the Veda, yet.
That's like a good boy. Please go through the Wikipedia article first. Then we can discuss other things. As a thinker, he is subject to public criticism but we don't find much in the public domain. I will be happy if any one can really challenge him. You can try, it's a long way!

Not giving up is the secret; you should read the Wikipedia article first to develop enough appreciation. There're many secondary literature too from where one can draw inspiration. Beyond Man is a very readable book
@viswag59 @freemarkets5 @cmalcolmkeating

No first hand experience but even blacks in US will not have so much of victimhood as our educated and prosperous sections nurse. The way so many are suffering from the urge for getting rid of those whose forefathers were the ruling class, it's not going to vanish any time soon.
Earlier the general refrain used to be love, peace, and brotherhood. Now everyone clamours hate, hit, and kill. What has caused this slippery slope slide so fast is not known but is a sign of how power corrupts the thinking process. We retain hope on Modi govt but it's shrinking.
Kill your neighbours enacted last month in Delhi proves how dominant ideological avenues are bankrupt. Sri Aurobindo said it a century back and there's an urgent need to translate them into action. Just visiting the Ashram or holding Art exhibition is not enough at this juncture.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo fought Hitler who had mesmerised a whole nation including top thinkers. So ideology has that power to mobilise foolish herds out of sane men. Same we observe today in more or less degrees everywhere. So thorough understanding of Sri Aurobindo essential.

It's no rocket science that after Savitri older texts and scriptures have become outdated. Anyone with an iota of attunement with Sri Aurobindo's philosophy should know that clutching on to the old is anti-Evolutionary. #SriAurobindo once deleted even the word Rishi. So strict!
Political parties are tweaking their strategies keeping an eye on future elections but for Savitri Era Party, the target is long term. Savitri must reach every home and then we can hope for a semblance of collaboration with Evolution. Not difficult if SM takes this up as sensible.

I don't follow Gita nor think it's an ideal prescription for modern society. Mythological fiction can't be allowed to rule present generation. Anachronism needs to be avoided to build a global community for which Auroville is already a model. Mitra and Varuna however are relevant.
Agree wholeheartedly and I apply whatever little I understand of Humanities when I write here. My opinion doesn't match with anyone else but I'm helpless about it. So, don't worry, no one is taking my words seriously; at least there's no evidence of it till now.

Kshatriyahood will end in killing neighbours, this those valorising muscular nationalism must understand. Intellectual Kshatriyas engaged in poisoning the minds of young generation should desist from their ugly design. Delhi murders should shake the conscience of fundamentalists.
It's good that ideology is coming to the fore; even people are killing each other in Delhi for the sake of it. So right orientation and moulding of minds has great relevance. Without Sri Aurobindo most people are suffering from intellectual malnutrition, hypocrisy, and fallacies.
Archeological treasures like sculpture and architecture are art; meant for aesthetic appreciation and education. But if they fuel so much of sinister nationalistic emotions that people kill each other, then such feelings need to be abdicated. Sri Aurobindo teaches love & harmony.
As we bid farewell to February 29 which will arrive four years later in 2024, our prayers for fruition of all that have been promised and envisaged. This takes us to a glad waiting for a month for March 29, a date without parallel in the human history or Mythology.

Supramental Consciousness in its embryonic state

February 28, 1968: Auroville was born, just two months before May 1968 sweeping whole Europe.
February 28, 2020: Serious political and communal unrest has gripped Dehi, the capital of India.
Message of #Auroville is the most appropriate basis for resolving conflict.
From 1968 to 2020, we have witnessed enormous Intellectual dishonesty and attempts at indoctrination. Sri Aurobindo demands honesty and integrity as price for efflorescence of his Integral vision. The young must break free of dominant political ideologies for building a new India.

On February 29, 1956, Supramental Consciousness descended upon earth in its embryonic state, as announced by The Mother. Its effects are difficult to perceive now, yet believing in its subtle action and Evolutionary momentum is a responsibility for all followers of #SriAurobindo.

After seventy years, it can safely be asserted that the Constitution of India is thoroughly elitist and Utopian. Auroville was surely ambitious which was founded after twelve years of Supramental descent. But the Constitution, without any spiritual foundation, was merely a dream.
Thus the nation is at the cusp of a renegotiation of its social contract for regeneration of regional vitality. How local culture redefines its people without any reference to overarching abstract stipulations imposed by the Centre is in the womb of the future. May The Mother act

Understanding India and the significance of its religion is impossible without reading Sri Aurobindo's books, yet most educated persons ignore him. Result is ignorance rules and multifarious deformations claim dominance. Reversing this trend is essential for future of the nation.
Quoting Sri Aurobindo and supporting scoundrels is an irony of our times. Lack of institutional dissemination of Sri Aurobindo's thought is the primary reason. There's no dearth of scholars with commendable self-study but slant is ubiquitous too. So no escape from subjective trap

While Savitri Era Party advocates switching to a scenario envisioned by Sri Aurobindo, there's no magic wand. Human nature has not undergone any appreciable transformation although intellectual recognition of its necessity is more or less stable. So next step is to popularise it.
No one can beat Sri Aurobindo in analysing the past and foreseeing the future. His stress on individual contribution for aiding Evolution is of profound significance. For instance, every tweet can be judged as to how much hatred it spreads. A few foreigners will rank at the top.

Nehruvian consensus sought to squeeze Hindutva out of the mainstream without any effort to engage with it. Obviously, it lacked necessary ideological flexibility. Today, Hindutva itself is attempting reform by conflating Gandhi and Vivekananda. But real challenge is Sri Aurobindo.
Let there be no confusion that I'm the only voice in the whole country to have popularised this new vision over more than a decade. Many love name-dropping of, and lip-service to, Sri Aurobindo but peddle erroneous representation. So caution against such celebrities is essential.
Exactly, any serious intellectual engagement was absent. Modernity in the West had its roots in the Christin ethical framework but importing it by delegitimising local in situ religious grounding created an abnormal and absurd situation which is yet to be resolved satisfactorily.
Sri Aurobindo has adequately dealt with various schools of philosophy and their relative efficacy vis-a-vis various stages of Human Cycle. In a way, the present turmoil was necessary so that people gasp for breath and strive for new discovery. Hindutva will understand its limits.

Ask yourself
Whether you believe
In what you write
Or to please someone
For some favour.
The latter is legitimate
Quite appropriate
Except that it can't
Be tom-tomed as
Ethical epitome.
Taking a stand
On rational ground
Is to surmount
Pulls and strings
And what they bring
And be.

Fifty words
At sixty four
Well past the
Midnight hour.
Millions sleep
They can think
And see merit
In questioning.
Why to believe in
Absurd practices?
And blindly follow
Better to reorder
Our priorities
And revamp
Whole territories
To blow cobwebs
Away from minds.

The question
Is not Hindu-Muslim
Or citizenship
It's meaning.
What's is life
What it's for
Wherefrom it comes
And where does it go?
Forty two have died
For a futile cause
Is a reminder
To seek reason.
Sri Aurobindo wrote
In forty two volumes
Auroville came up
Fifty two years ago.

Solving problems
Without reading
Seminal thoughts
Is stillborn.
Bijli and Pani
All very vital
But nothing more.
Human nature
Complex suture
Caprice galore
Anew ever.
Evolution says
Sri Aurobindo
Is on and kicking
New is in making.
So no riots please
Or old remedies.

It seems that more and more people are coming under the refreshingly transformational influence of The Secret of the Veda authored by Sri Aurobindo over a century ago. Anyone reading its explosive first chapter can't return to his earlier intellectual framework due to subversion.
First chapter of The Secret of the Veda has the potential of overthrowing both Hindutva and Nehruvian fundamentalism. Sri Aurobindo never highlighted this dimension but present events have rendered it relevant. So simple to perceive except those who are Intellectually dishonest.

Quotations are a problem with Sri Aurobindo's way of explicating any notion spread over two-three pages. Further, a lot of prior attunement is needed which develops in the course of reading. Sri Aurobindo and Carl Marx by DPC is the most competently attempted critical enterprise.

Instead of lamenting about degeneration of "our" Republic I as an ordinary and helpless citizen would diagnose it as real discovery of India and how the so called Idea of India was a sham or Colonial imposition. Granting Sovereignty to the States will be the final and logical end.
Blatant fuelling of street politics is negation of Democracy and Civil society. Formidable forces are involved in this vicious game with an eye on power. No patience to wait for five long years. So don't give that any ideological colour or build some hollow ethical superstructure.
Human nature is not perfect but socially responsible behaviour is maintained through education, culture, religion, and law. Defying fragility by instigating prolonged street protests on the pretext of seeking justice can light the fuse of chain reactions of uncontrollable nature.

An artful way of ignoring Sri Aurobindo is to say I haven't read him much. If you are aware of everything under the Sun and have an opinion on any damn thing, then why this omission unless intended? Isn't it a sign of your rating him as worthless? Saying that is much more honest.
With due respect to your scholarship and discernment, may I point out that clubbing Sri Aurobindo with the rest is problematic. Lack of first hand encounter with his writings can create many misconceptions and generalisations. I expect early remedy to the situation; all the best.
Nothing surprising as the same narrative is in vogue for the last seven decades. But even pointing out that and some bold remarks on German Nationalism may not stand scrutiny. That's why I mentioned but with trepidation. Thanks.

A good pretext for ignoring Sri Aurobindo has been his alleged escapism and mysticism. Savitri Era Learning Forum (SELF) has been encouraging since 2005 to read his books under a critical lens and check for oneself if it has any merit. How one uses what he imbibes is subjective.
People painting Gandhi and Sri Aurobindo as polar opposites is a faulty position. Deeper study and discernment needed to understand the actuality. From a theoretical point of view both advocated Enlightenment values which resemble the Vedic ideals to a great extent. Nuance needed.

While anti and pro #CAA factions are quite vocal, it may appear that there's no other view. Yet Savitri Era Party has an independent opinion on the matter that goes to the root of the problem. Political expediency unfortunately dictates policies instead of genuine love for people.
Most here draw immense satisfaction by spouting hatred and it has become part of their life's mission. Of course, all on the pretext of nationalism or protecting religion. Life is difficult; each one is entitled to find his or her own way of overcoming frustration and depression.
It's the duty of the State to keep its citizens informed instead of leaving them at the mercy of privately run paid media. If we observe the events of last two months, the govt has failed miserably in this respect. I don't know who's behind the protests and who's trying to quell.

Abnormal level of population in India and its geographical vastness and diversity is inflicting enormous hardship upon its inhabitants. Minor incidents in one corner is keeping its entire population tense. A family splits when it grows too big. So Sovereignty to States is a must.
Huge territory may be satisfactory for immature adolescents but lots of people are put to difficulty due to being uprooted, long travel, away from home, linguistically alienated, or culturally strangulated. Psychological factors must receive attention and deserved consideration.

Sri Aurobindo popularised the concept of Integral Yoga encompassing physical, vital, mental, and psychic levels. So examining a thinker or theory in terms of which level it caters to is important. Thus each has its own role and utility. Rising above them is the task and challenge.
Most Intellectuals are obsessed with history, archeological discoveries, or old literature devoted to mysticism. Sri Aurobindo frees us from that burden. He chose exactly how much past was necessary and fused it with the demands of future Evolution to produce a unique concoction.

Sri Aurobindo had his formal education in England and hence the imprint of Western grounding in his writings is unmistakable. Besides he is trying to impress upon the British about the necessity of Freedom. He needs to be assessed through the lens of his intended target audience.
Four important books of Sri Aurobindo should be there in every home.
1. The Human Cycle
2. The Life Divine
3. The Secret of the Veda and
4. Savitri
It's good to make a habit of reading any one page at random from any book, mechanically, without any conscious effort to understand.

Savitri Era Party is an attempt to grow awareness about Sri Aurobindo and develop respect towards him. Right now, he is largely unknown; and even for those who know, is to no avail. This is the factual situation and there's no evidence to the contrary. Yet, sudden change possible.
Poets and philosophers are remembered in all cultures but language poses a barrier in India. Since Sri Aurobindo wrote in English, he is not easily accepted as their own in any region. But his neutral stand on religion can prove to be the panacea for the present political impasse.

You may be right but reading the books of Sri Aurobindo in a scientific spirit has much to offer. And once you know his basic arguments, it's easy to compare with other thinkers profitably. As a philosopher and poet, none can match him; his Vedic Evolutionary prophecy is supreme.
So you can tweet some interesting comparisons for the benefit of others. Most educated people are absolutely ignorant of Sri Aurobindo's writings. Thanks.

I have read and RTed your impassioned plea and on a Darshan Day it must have inspired many. Let's hope some positive response from those at the forefront. Btw reproducing Amazon comments in full made the post too lengthy. They also overshadowed the power of your charged eloquence.
If you harbour even an iota of desire to understand #TheMother & #SriAurobindo, here's a chance just at a glance. #SavitriEra: Sri Aurobindo's theoretical salience @NathTusar Further:
I'm not much familiar and I will check. But I don't think Sri Aurobindo recognises them as Devatas; they are rather impersonal principles. Like, Varuna is Vastness, Mitra is Harmony, etc. Thus, all later philosophical formulations are deformations. Puranas and Epics are creative.
Please read 7 in the light of 10. All these are long term pictures and hence there's nothing to fear. But, even technology is perhaps forcing a more uniform cultural atmosphere, you will agree. Thanks.
Sri Aurobindo has already explained in detail the symbolic and psychological character of deities in his The Secret of the Veda over one hundred years back. Popularising that can disabuse people of the superficial mythological perception. So careful study of #SriAurobindo needed.
Sri Aurobindo's psychological interpretation of the Veda on the other hand opens up new vistas of integral understanding. Relying upon defective worldviews of the past needs to be jettisoned in a scientific spirit. Otherwise it misguides and misleads students & future generation.
Assuming a theory vacuum before a particular date is perhaps not accurate. Darwin's theory of Evolution also begins at the middle alerts Sri Aurobindo and goes on to complete the cycle by incorporating Involution. Rothbard's portrayal of man and purpose of action too is inchoate.

Let's not forget that the commercial element is predominant due to which vast resources are out of the purview of public view or access. So, concerted effort needed to overcome this barrier and the appetite for name and fame too. Odia language has waited for too long for minimum.
On a critical note, that's the reason Odia songs couldn't attain popularity until Akshaya Mohanty thrust himself into the scene. Full throated singing had died in other languages but a conspiracy can't be ruled out to keep Odia sound primitive and thus denying commercial success.
