Say no to nation

Democracy is about people. Not the people or the nation. It's about individual citizens. So, imposing any shade of tribalism or identity politics is, undoubtedly, an aberration. Therefore, it is important to fix, firmly, where one's emphasis lies. Because democracy has no prototype. Like a liquid, it takes the shape of the container. Many totalitarian regimes have claimed to be running a democracy.

M. Nageswara Rao is peeved that the Constitution of India promotes social atomism. This very fact is the greatest tribute to the Constitution. It frees the individuals from the shackles of all tribalism including even the family. All are independent voters. But the same Constitution also recognises various castes and religions.

Sri Aurobindo has examined this individual vs. collective issue extensively. He favours the individual, as far as I understand, but, unfortunately, many of his writings from the earlier political period is quoted for justifying the primacy of the nation or religion. These, however, are subject to scholarly interpretation and critical scrutiny.

I bypass this difficulty by formulating my own recipe under Savitri Era Party (2007) and Savitri Era Religion (2006). While worshipping The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the one Supreme Divine, who are always present in their three poises: individual, universal, and transcendent, is fundamental, their writings can be read, differently, according to the situation.

Dragging Sri Aurobindo for justifying any utilitarian function is, absolutely, anomalous. Even to say that the East and the West meet in his philosophy is also erroneous. He represents the word Integral to the hilt; no synthesis or amalgamation, no braiding or blending, no intertwining or interweaving. He is something unique and altogether unprecedented. https://x.com/SavitriEra - https://bsky.app/profile/savitriera.bsky.social
