The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have spoken about the supraphysical and subliminal realms but Auroville and its surrounding areas have become a fertile ground for centres selling unverified claims of healing, yoga classes, and other such group practices. Spirituality gets a bad name.
It may not be palatable to many but I'm repeating this theme for right perspective to stabilize. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have written much on practice of yoga but no example of any success exists. So they being the Supreme Divine and their philosophy should be seen separately.
Religious Studies isn't a full fledged subject in India as a result of which many erroneous Hindutva notions perpetuate. Due comparative analysis presents a different picture, colonial distortions notwithstanding. Belittling our debt to the West isn't a sound or honest propensity

The first principle of teaching Sri Aurobindo is that he doesn't solve all philosophical problems. The second principle is that his Integral Yoga is no assurance of systematic spiritual progress. The third principle is that his sociopolitical ideas are of little practical utility.
I keep on repeating the demand for change of syllabus but that alone is not sufficient. Teachers above forty are not competent to teach present day students. The generation gap is too wide. Never before in human history such drastic changes took place within span of two decades.
No one can predict the future including astrologers. Yes, each one is entitled to his or her fond hopes and it's called speculation. To give it a more credible or prestigious status is deception. To accept this reality is humility. To ask why the world is like this is philosophy.

Positivism, Utilitarianism, and Empiricism took away the element of drama from life and history by delegitimising teleology. Everything was seen under the lense of suffering and exploitation and the need for retribution. In India, however, the concept of lila survives as cushion.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo jointly are the most intellectually attractive persons in the human history but no firm assurance ought to be sought. Recognising their worth and utility is the most challenging task before the humanity. This is the demand of evolution and revolution.
Apart from general and professional education, reading a large collection of religious and cultural books is a big challenge. Doing a good selection is still more difficult. Most young Indians are victims on this count and should count on The Mother & Sri Aurobindo for guidance.

Western philosophy played hide and seek with god whereas Sri Aurobindo put god at the very door; in the opening paragraph of The Life Divine, to be precise. So, don't be intimidated by the magnitude of Western philosophy; read them as good literature. Be alert not to get trapped.

Auroville couldn't develop as per own plan because govt took it over. With Matrimandir as the temple of a new religion at the centre, the central issue is how the Devotees can get back #Auroville from the clutches of the Central govt. Strangely, no side is concerned about this.

Many foreigners have come in contact with India and some have lived in India due to Sri Aurobindo. A few have written books and articles too. But understanding Indian diversity is not easy and it's a handicap. Media modelled on the colonial lines perpetuates warped perspectives.

Everyone in Auroville seems to miss the woods for the trees and is barking up the wrong tree. No one can claim any special rights or knowledge in an anomalous situation. #Auroville as a religious place is under unjust rule. Its liberation from govt hands is the foremost priority.
1) The Mother built Matrimandir and Auroville for her Devotees.
2) Present administration has no right to secularise #Auroville or carry out needless development.
3) Once the Devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo get back complete ownership, all aspects will be examined afresh.
Did the world learn anything from The Mother & Sri Aurobindo during the last one hundred years? Not much apparently; but the West couldn't produce any major ontologist after Heidegger. So, no new philosophy. Every branch of knowledge seems to be converging towards #SriAurobindo.
That Christianity has survived in the West for so long despite great advances in science as well as philosophy points to an Achilles' heel. An acute gangrene of irrationality of gigantic proportion hides somewhere which can explode if ignited with the right source of illumination

Neither the Ashram nor Auroville can be seen as representing the legacy of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo and are mere caricatures. Scholars will quote them to prove any point to their own liking and so should be taken with a dollop of salt. Concrete results ought not to be sought.

It's quite embarrassing that those lamenting about Sri Aurobindo not being taught in the schools have themselves not read his books. Spirituality aspect is not verifiable and hence can't pass academic scrutiny. The revolution is redundant and evolution is speculative philosophy.
