Several brands of new religions have grown around The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. As Founder of Savitri Era Religion, I insist upon direct allegiance without any intermediary or guru. To steer clear of other religions is also necessary. Freedom from rituals is salient characteristic.
Govt resolve for involving 150 universities for dissemination of Sri Aurobindo's life and philosophy with focus on revolution and evolution is a welcome venture. It's satisfying since I have been stressing on this from 2005 as Founder-Director of Savitri Era Learning Forum (SELF)
The colossal intellect of Sri Aurobindo hasn't been duly recognised by the world and institutional effort in this direction will go a long way. But that shouldn't overshadow the new religion surrounding him and secularise the whole scenario. Matrimandir and Auroville are examples.

A few advocates of tradition and rituals are promising yogic siddhi and experience by following The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Having scant acquaintance with such occult matters, I have been warning against such temptations, although Sri Aurobindo has written much on these subjects.

It's no rocket science that people are driven by self-interest. Love for Constitution is not for its own sake but as long as it suits. Thus to see in a document some divine sanctity or sublimity is height of hypocrisy. Sovereignty for the States is most urgent for true Democracy.
With no formal institutional strings attached, I have been examining various methodological avenues for exploring Sri Aurobindo's oeuvre and his relevance, with due sympathy and devotion. PM's CFP on the greatest poet and philosopher should break new ground and critical response.

Congress has been displeased with Sri Aurobindo since 1893 and more particularly from 1907 which may wane with time, but Hindutva has a morbid fear of him as a formidable figure of its nemesis. No wonder therefore how guarded the PM's response to his relevance and his message is.

Focus on Sri Aurobindo is bound to accentuate curiosity on circumstances of his external life but the challenge is to dehistoricise. Imagining him without biographical twists and turns or even his books will be more profitable than just compiling quotations with connecting notes.

Audio-visual had a mesmerising effect during our college days and we eagerly waited for a class in that room in Regional College of Education in Bhubaneswar. Short documentaries seemed as manna from heaven. Videos on Sri Aurobindo are mushrooming but transcripts are never posted.
It's astounding that people don't, or unable to, understand the power of Twitter. Not surprising since people are indifferent about even Sri Aurobindo. Democracy becomes suspect in such situations. But that may be the course of evolutionary intention. From ignorance to knowledge.

ARYA had its last issue in 1921 and thereafter Sri Aurobindo's life and philosophy changed in many significant ways predominantly under The Mother's influence. Hitler too had become the leader in 1921 and this must be snatching the attention of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo greatly.
The Mother's spiritual significance of flowers is very much akin to the psychological interpretation of Vedic deities by Sri Aurobindo. The essence is the same; evolution and transformation of lower nature into higher and sublimer manifestation of Sat-Chit-Ananda or Mitra-Varuna.
Each person harbours different types of ambitions and a lot of suppressed urge for violence. But obviously they don't get fulfilled but find lower means to get satisfied. Most supporters of Hindutva suffer from this false sense of pride by avoiding the right sources of knowledge.

All signs of a modern day religion considering faithful lifelong shareholders and innumerable PR volunteers spread globally.
Philosophical tips like shadows in the cave, tableness, unicorn, or even Antigone or Medea offer diverse facets of human modalities of awareness and understanding but no decisive answer on what's right or truth can be discerned. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo help with some coherence.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have written a lot but have not been able to incorporate their own position clearly in an ontological framework. That's because the work was on in an air of expectancy. This shouldn't be an alibi to fall back upon traditional doctrines and shibboleths.
Many have heard of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo but never show any interest to know them. Given the complex nature of their legacy, many of their pronouncements needn't be understood literally. They said for instance that they are not creating a new religion but actually they did.
The books of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo including some essential ones by their top disciples run into 100 volumes. One needn't read all of them but to carry the impression that they are dispensable or optional is not a sound disposition. As a new religion it's verily a revolution.
