Savitri Era of those who adore,
Om Sri Aurobindo & The Mother.
Endorsement without devotion is futile. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo don't seek empty veneration. They insist on transmission of right content. Understanding their agenda and aligning with its trajectory is what is demanded. They don't need flowers; they want us to be like flowers.
People are peeved that Hindu identity is receding from traditional texts to be associated with Sri Aurobindo progressively. This is based on merit and growing awareness. Anyone reading a couple of pages can know the level of Sri Aurobindo. A few of course won't be able to follow.
Sankrit texts have received a new life in Sri Aurobindo's hands. But he isn't niggardly regarding Heraclitus or Homer either. Integrating high spirituality with poetic utterances is a high point of his integral philosophy. But those addicted to rituals invoke import of aesthetics
Pick up any book on Sri Aurobindo and there is the likelihood of being misled. Thus building up the right stock of appreciation is essential before trying to understand him. Since not many authentic hands are available, ample care is warranted. Besides, unschooling is a challenge
Many people are being attracted to group activities and lure of miracles. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo discourage such motivations and advise vigilance. Prayer and grace are personal affairs and showing off is not desirable. Devotion, similarly, needn't be shouting from the rooftop
Managing personal affairs and situations falls in different zones for different people. But, when it comes to ideas, rationality should lead to concurrence. That Sri Aurobindo is the greatest philosopher is not contested any more but there is hesitation to acknowledge it, openly.
Sri Aurobindo can't be defined by his writings alone. His life and action contain innumerable indications of his vastness. The Mother's perceptions of him provide further dimensions. Thus any reductionist portrayal of him is methodologically faulty. Integral perspective essential
There is one commonality among most religions; i.e., people pray. Locations vary, so also the modality but prayer is a constant. The commonality extends to the fact that there's no guarantee of the prayer being granted. SA says, "Heaven's wiser love rejects the mortal's prayer."
If a tweet doesn't convince someone then even a book won't be able to perform the task. Thus content is what matters and not bulk. Onus of recognising worth is on the reader. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo were nonchalant about the number of their followers. They were quite selective
Has the Left been really made marginalised? Is crowd the sole indicator of legitimacy. Leftist winds blowing from RSS side has put the analysts on alert. That everything is not honky dory has come to the wider notice. As long as poverty exists, they Left can't be wiped out.
Since this platform encourages blowing one's own trumpet, I declare once in a while that I am marketing the best brand and best product. My job is not to be creative but repetitive, i.e., propaganda. Those fail to spot value in The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are too present-oriented.
Half the Indians don't have the experience of Indira Gandhi's rule and hence don't understand what politics is. After her, the history is nothing but footnotes to her seminal measures. Democracy got crippled and is yet to recover. Dynasty is everywhere. Basically, it's her legacy
Reading the books of the top twenty direct disciples of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is an additional challenge and privilege. Being aware of how they came and progressed in the path is an enlightening and inspiring experience. Now, we safely paraphrase what they set forth, boldly.
In the absence of ideological rigidities there should be two parties in India. One opposing caste based reservations and the other in favour. Savitri Era is against reservations and any govt or legal provision for identifying or perpetuating castes. Any remedial action is welcome
Frontiers of knowledge are so vast that one may go on amassing but completing an enclosure is doubtful as a result of which most prized possessions don't make sense. Opting for an enclosure Sri Aurobindo offers is far more prudent since fresh acquisitions are tested by touchstone
Humanities as a congeries of disciplines, though epitome of knowledge, is considered as a circus by the tribunal of neo literates. Forty volumes of Sri Aurobindo's complete works cover many aspects of humanities in an interdisciplinary manner. Self-study is an effective strategy.
Theatrical behaviour of the Prime Minister notwithstanding, his grassroots past is a sterling quality of Indian democracy. But quests for roots like ancient temples under mosques, Saraswati flowing at some spots or insisting on geographic location for mythology are disconcerting.
Sri Aurobindo is the fourth pillar which intellectuals love to ignore. He wrote extensively but universities failed to take them into account that continues.
[Yechury referred to the three prominent pre-Independence political schools — the Congress, the undivided CPI and the RSS]
Evolution follows a spiral course along the arrow of time. Whether it brings pleasure or sorrow can't be foreseen. Aspiring for harmony is our responsibility. Final decision is under the Divine's faculty. Evolution needs instruments for implementation. Good or bad Divine's plan.
Managing emotions is an essential ingredient of spiritual practice. Refinement of lower instincts is said to be the key for dwelling midst higher motivations. Thus the level of consciousness is important. Certain physical objects like a book like Savitri is believed to have role.
No person or prescription can solve the basic inquiry of life's purpose. This should be clear with a little bit of exposure to critical discourse. Believing in The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the one Supreme Divine is the only way out. Throwing away the past baggage can help sprout
Each situation is unique and can't be replicated. Combination of various factors may resemble but outcome would be different. Voluntary intervention, therefore, must vary but deciphering evolutionary intention may not be easy. Empathy facilitates and transparency jettisons filth.
Transformation of human nature is not an individual affair. Minor progress may be achieved through personal effort but the real change will happen at the collective level by the descent of the Supramental. The grace of The Mother is instrumental for this evolutionary breakthrough
Glorified history coupled with mythological fiction is a perfect recipe for self-delusion. Theatrical rituals complete the heady concoction. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo have been showing a new path since 1914. Those who are unaware of must consent to give the possibility a chance.
Many people portray The Mother's writings as direct and simple. Partly true, but what she describes in Mother's Agenda is certainly not crystal clear. Her concepts like the mind of the cells literally brings the idea of yoga to the subtle physical level. No one else claimed this.
Biggest task for Nitish Kumar is to establish his ideological credibility. Right now his moves appear as a mock fight in 2024 to make Modi's task easier. He can always reap the post electoral dividends. This may be harsh but his role in the last decade doesn't inspire confidence.
Exaggerated hopes and false promises ought to be avoided in relation to The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Most of their writings are futuristic and hence caution must be exercised regarding actual results. Intellectual and aesthetic enjoyment from reading however can be derived freely.
Approaching Sri Aurobindo as a guru, yogi, rishi, or even an avatar is a highly problematic proposition. His action starts when accepted as the one Supreme Divine along with The Mother. This is an evolutionary imperative. Those who have come to admire him must make this switch.
From a revolutionary, Sri Aurobindo is perceived as making a transition to spirituality. Most often his philosophical contribution is forgotten. Western philosophy avoids talking about god but Sri Aurobindo's philosophy is replete with it. It is, therefore, universal and integral
Many Bollywood films feature a scene of police men reaching the spot when the crime is over. Our Supreme Court in many cases seems to be performing an identical role. It has strong views about many things happening in our country but they are known long after the damage is done.
