Savitri Era of those who adore, Om Sri Aurobindo & The Mother.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are the one Supreme Divine who are always present and hence calling them Guru, Avatar, Master, or Shakti etc is erroneous. The Mother's photograph is kept in the left and, accordingly, addressing them should begin with The Mother for the mantric effect.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo dealt with the occult. The Mother has, repeatedly, warned against rituals where lower vital beings are propitiated instead of the intended gods or goddesses. Many places of worship are permanently inhabited by them who deceive the devotees through boons.
Please check.
Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo and Darshan Day is on August 15. Commemorating the mere historical significance is not enough. Sri Aurobindo along with The Mother is worshipped as the one Supreme Divine. Recognising this and giving legal status will be a big relief to devotees
Apart from recognition as a new religion Sri Aurobindo's books need to be included in the University sillabi. Ban on The Lives of Sri Aurobindo by Peter Heehs too needs to be lifted. Besides Auroville should be returned back to the devotees as Matrimandir is the sanctum sanctorum.
If the govt respects diversity and recognises old religions, it should also recognise new religions in a democracy. Savitri Era Religion has been appealing for legal staus since 2006 on the basis of the dissenting judgement of Justice O. Chinnappa Reddy in the Auroville case, 1983.
In the absence of anyone truly dedicated to The Mother & Sri Aurobindo in the govt, their devotees are getting nothing while other sections of society are snatching away various benefits and concessions through political arm-twisting. Hindutva sympathisers should demand for one.
Many newspapers will print a Wikipedia style profile of Sri Aurobindo to remember him. Some others will have articles comparing him to other great men by quoting foreign authors. But the real work or worth of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo won't be covered. Media has its own agenda.
Almost all details of Sri Aurobindo's life is recorded and documented but attemts are still on to twist facts for appropriating him. No doubt, he received guidance or inspiration at different points but he has never acknowledged anyone as his guru or belonging to some lineage.
People are suffering from poverty although there's no dearth of wealth in our country. Lack of development is an everyday experience. For the devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo the remedy is to pray. Current disappointing and dismal situation shouldn't be a bar for aspiration.
Your political sympathies too are fairly transparent and so it's difficult to understand why you take the stand of a neutral journalist occasionally. Degeneration is everywhere and so being critical on your part doesn't look nice. Good things always emerge from the mud and muddle.
That's great. We need such persons, today. All the best.
Political activity of Sri Aurobindo ended in 1910 as he decamped to Puducherry but he had assured a devotee there that India will be free. Turning down several requests to return he had emphasised that he is working for what India should be after Independence. Let's listen to him.
Freedom movement has a chequered history of which Sri Aurobindo was a pioneer. But his more important contribution is in the realm of philosophy. Even that pales into insignificance when compared with his spiritual forays. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are the one Supreme Divine.
Western philosophy is suffering from avoidable comparisons between the stands on various issues by different philosophers. There's no way for searching for the truth. The focus is on what A has said or B has claimed. Sri Aurobindo, on the contrary, lays truth bare, layer by layer.
Sri Aurobindo was born on this day in 1872. Kolkata was then the Capital where The Asiatic Society was founded by William Jones roughly a century earlier in 1784. Between the two years, a lot of intellectual, cultural, and religious churning had taken place. Now, a new era began.
They may be many things to many people but to the devotees The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are the one Supreme Divine. Attempting to understand their luminous and voluminous writings requires approaching them with sympathy and appreciation and surrendering to their encompassing grace.
Savitri Era Religion demands govt. recognition and legal status so that children of the devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo don't drift away after their parents' demise and devotees are not forced to worship other gods and goddesses or observe festivals due to social pressure.
Govt should vacate Auroville and handover its administration to the devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Recognising this new religion and the minority status of all connected institutions will give a lot of freedom for innovation. The new religion is universal and seeks peace.
In the absence of govt. recognition for Savitri Era Religion, Indians continue to suffer, intellectually, from the burden of mythology, rituals, and superstitions. The alternative vision created by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, for a sublime future of humanity, remains unutilised.
Thanks to the Pathachakra, or Study Circle movement, in Odisha, I got exposed to the teachings of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo quite early in life. The pioneers were Ramakrishna Das, fondly known as Babaji Maharaj and Prapatti. They published a quarterly magazine called, Navajyoti.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are to be remembered together as they are the one Supreme Divine. Invoking their names involves collaboration with evolution towards Supramental consciousness. They are not connected with any old religion, ritual, or tradition. Surrender to them is key.
Empty praises were showered on Sri Aurobindo today without any real commitment or concrete action. Such superficial behaviour has become normal in all spheres. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, therefore, introduced the concept of yoga for personal involvement and psychological effort.
Released today
Silence of Hindutva stalwarts, today, indicates how much Sri Aurobindo is a pain in their necks. Sri Aurobindo has been forthright in his criticism of the tradition and overlooking that can upset the apple cart. I have been telling openly that Sri Aurobindo's works are subversive.
Both, The Life Divine and Savitri, pose enormous challenge for the human intellect. Yet, The Mother and her love and compassion is so easily accessible. This is the power of religion; it provides a home to countless people, offers solace to people in distress or emotional turmoil.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo built the Ashram and Auroville but Savitri Era Religion provides a shelter to the devotees scattered worldwide. Many love to dwell in their own intellectual ivory towers but we meet on Darshan days to celebrate our collective existence and common faith.
Many get repelled by The Mother for being a relic of Colonialism. It may be true in the sense that she represents East-West integration and human unity. The journey of her life and how she was instrumental in moulding Sri Aurobindo's thought is fascinating.
Modi has grown from the grassroots and has endured all vicissitudes of politics. The method he has adopted for his rise so far has been dictated by the psychology of the people which he understands thoroughly. Hunger of people for hero worship and thirst for charisma is infinite.
Sri Aurobindo was robbed of his deserved position in history by prominent politicians and eminent historians. We didn't learn about him adequately in the school. This when Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was the first Minister of Education who was a revolutionary acolyte of Sri Aurobindo.
Leftist scholars have hoodwinked the people of this country by banishing Sri Aurobindo from their books and articles during the last seventy six years. Universities continue to deprive their students of authentic knowledge by keeping Sri Aurobindo out of the syllabus. Despicable!
