A good thing about a democratic environment is that it is easy to judge different factions from the criticisms of their ideologies by their respective adversaries. From this point of view, India has been fortunate, so far. Apart from being the largest democracy, with a most modern Constitution, India is, perhaps, the only country without any majoritarian factor. From the diversity angle, therefore, it is a veritable melting pot.
Having spent seventy years in such an atmosphere, I should feel absolutely confident about the future like most of the people. But my orientation in Sri Aurobindo's philosophy and its evolutionary vision doesn't permit such complacence. For others, it is, Ignorance is Bliss. But, fortunately or unfortunately, I have read The Life Divine and The Human Cycle. I carry the burden of the profound predictions hidden in the cold print of those pages. Only that much is concrete. Rest is mere belief.
So, finding a path for my own self is as important as showing the same to the others. Since, no one else is there to guide among the rest of the 8.3 billion people. I have been treading the forbidden zones of religion and politics for the last two decades. Most parties have undergone significant transformation during this period. All are groping in the dark; trying out various permutations and combinations. But Savitri Era Party (2007) sticks to its original inspiration of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo.
