No experiential richness of discourse

[I will say that one of the dangers of being honest online is that people use it against you. Dangers of Honesty My remarks about my book last week. by larvalsubjects
Larval Subjects Rousseau is, in part, great for his willingness to reveal himself in a raw and completely public way. So too with Freud, Nietzsche, Henry Miller, and so on. To make oneself public in the most intimate and shameful corners of one’s being, there is something great in that. There is something liberating in that.]

[Gandhi did not need the investigatory skills of any hack to expose his private life. He did it himself, with breathtaking honesty and exemplary courage in the astonishing confessional that is his autobiography. The book was published 18 years before freedom, not as a post-retirement benefit fund: it is, by the way, much more than a route-map to celibacy or an unabashed defiance of temptation. The lords of the British empire who considered him, correctly, an existentialist threat, could do nothing with the material Gandhi placed at their command. by M J Akbar Appeared in Times of India - Sunday August 02, 2009 Aug 2, 2009 Kashmir needs a stronger CM from M.J. [If the social field of IY practice enables the sharing of phenomenological descriptions of IY understanding and process of individuals, a living field of participative communication is set up in which individuals must extend their consciousness boundaries to identify, empathize, synthesize, accept or avoid variant strains of experience of IY process, enriching the collective field and amplifying individual and collective growth. It is the near total lack of this middle ground of communication between internal experience and outer rote which is largely responsible for the collectve assumptions re. IY based on hearsay and lacking in personal self-confidence. Under such circumstances, orthodox representations of IY will take hegemonic hold over the field since there is no experiential richness of discourse to fill the space. Debashish on Fri 12 Jun 2009 07:36 PM PDT Profile Permanent Link Online forums, face-to-face discussions groups are good, but what I was talking about was institutional mechanisms within a community - eg. the community fielding interviews, presentations of individual interpretations of IY processes, etc, followed by sharing circles exploring interpretive positions, etc. while maintaining a culture of non-interference and respect for plurality in such communication acts. A living culture of this kind in a community promotes plurality of interpretation and the sense of individual participation and growth among its members. Its lack leads to the fossilization of a teaching into endless repetitions of a mainstream message by a few spokespersons in a fixed language and the willing or unwilling acquiescence of the rest to its proxy comforts. Yes, I think it is the lack of this kind of culture and the reduction of the social field of IY to unthinking consumption of a canned mainline propaganda dished out in a set of buzz-words by a few "authorities" that is largely the reason for the present close-mindedness.]

Some body within me even asks .. what is faith? What is reality? It has all becme so vague now. I hope after I go to Pondicherry I shall revive myself and my faith. thank you. Mamta]

[Transparency is essential in our electronic age, but trustees who try to quote a code of conduct next to impossible to apply in life must set an example by observing it themselves. Otherwise they can only be like Satan quoting the scriptures. D. Kamal Dora, Pondicherry www.outlookindia.com]

Community communication can be chaotic, and when privileged, likely to be appropriated by narcissists and publicists. But then the remedy is more communication and candor and not silence. [TNM]
