Democracy, Evolution, and descent of the Supramental

Savitri Era
Knowledge of Sanskrit isn´t required for understanding the Veda. Memorising or recitation of mantras is also not necessary. #SriAurobindo has explained the psychological significance of many key terms of the Veda. That equips to shed the mythological lullabies that rule the roost.

17-year old Rajas Satija is showing light to Indians. #SriAurobindo ‘Veda, Upanishad & Tantra,’ A revolt against the establishment of Indology. by

Semiology says that nothing can be defined: it´s all interpretation. Most of the concepts in Social Sciences are like that but we go by practical and current usages. Once upon a time communal was a salutary term but now a days it´s reserved for pejorative sense. Hence middle path.

Rescuing popular discourse from the clutch of political parties, media, and academia is a tough challenge in India. Western inducement and commercial endorsement rule the attention space but it´s not impossible to reverse the trend. Let´s proceed with #SriAurobindo´s inspiration.

Challenge for the Savitri Erans is to show that we don´t hate people on the basis of language, region, religion, caste, or colour. it´s not a normative but comes out of the ontological position of #IntegralAdvaita propounded by #SriAurobindo. Tame out and out positivist outlook.

You are right but each person has his own trajectory of growth and understanding things. Lack of open debate and discussion also leads to fixed notions and prejudices. Thanks.

I don´t think there can be any clear distinction between socialism or capitalism in India. It has been a seamless journey punctured by technology and communication. V.P. Singh also did help. One thing led to the other and the history is interesting. Bollywood too played its part.

Good overview but short on solution. #SriAurobindo wrote on these topics 100 years back but intellectuals have ignored him. His The Secret of the Veda is an epochal work which redefines the notion of gods, rituals, and other paraphernalia relating to the so called Indic tradition

Fine but I just pointed out a huge lacuna which is generally overlooked. From a superficial perspective a solution might seem inconsequential but #SriAurobindo toiled all his life to give shape to such a thing. Without reading his books it´s impossible to understand India & world

Well put. #SriAurobindo´s birth anniversary is on August 15. Hope you can tell about him more in your next articles.

Democracy itself introduces the concept of a leader who people would obey. This election/selection of the party leader has been messy so far. Thereś no freedom or transparency. Conspiracy of silence is another form of fascism. Movies feed fascination for a hero; Mythologies too.

I was born eight years after the British left India and five years after the Constitution of India was promulgated. I don't know why I should be tormented by stories of conflict and victimhood supposed to have happened during the last two thousand years. Why such crap imposition?

People take the easy route of blaming each other. Women think men are the root of problems; teenagers are up in arms against parents. Citizens feel govt to be totally ineffective; workers put all blame at the door of management. But the cause is not so apparent says #SriAurobindo

The aim of Constitution is to create a peaceful society and ensure smooth functioning of democracy. Such an ideal situation however is rare. Capturing power is now a profession for a small section and so feudal culture proliferates. Solution to it has to be found out within this.

Genesis of the Constitution of India is a bit complicated. Itś a colonial legacy that was adopted by an assembly in the name of the people of India. But a Constitution is just a blueprint, nothing sacrosanct about it. Any feeling of royal supremacy or religious sacredness, wrong.

From learning to write on a slate to keying in tweets on a tablet, my generation has witnessed and weathered a tumultuous transition. As a senior and responsible citizen, I keep on pointing out that most people are victims of a rusty narrative. Reading #SriAurobindo is solution.

Those who cling to defective and incoherent worldviews on professional or pecuniary considerations are in an unenviable position. But those who are free but slavishly mortgage their intelligence to some faulty ideology are real culprits. #SriAurobindo an option outside University.

Past attractions and attachments install barriers against accepting new things. Many a time, the physical situation becomes a prison, the cultural milieu turning a cesspool. #SriAurobindo provides the needed escape; a new lens to probe the past through. Whatś needed is curiosity.

Democracy can't prohibit antipathy and conflict; it rather encourages. This is in contrast to an aspiration for a harmonious society. No such prior model is there but man has dreamt of it since ages. Power-drunk politicians need to be removed for letting in fresh blood and mood.

Democracy needs to be designed on a regular basis. Apart from the four pillars individual efforts for refining it should be given weightage. Laws alone can´t ensure smooth functioning. Personal urge for power is the prime propeller but must move within the narrow tunnel of ethics

It´s instructive to ask yourself a few questions. Do you love India? Do you love Akhanda Bharata? Do you love Hindu Rashtra? Do you love your mother language? Do you love Sanskrit? Do you love English? Do you love Western music and movies? Multiple affinities hard to reconcile.

Adolescence is a difficult stage and barring a few aggressive ones most suffer from shyness, timidity, or diffidence. Maladjustmemt is the name of the game. So it reflects in different ways including avoiding eye contact with teachers. Respect for teachers is also a common reason.

After VRS from PNB in Y2K, I had some funds in hand for the first time. Earlier it was a litany of loans. Had no idea of Mutual Funds but invested in a A-Z bouquet. Aditya, Alliance, Bajaj, DSP, Franklin, HDFC, JM, Kotak, Kothari Pioneer, SBI, Sundaram, Reliance, UTI, and Zurich.
It paid me handsomely in 2005. Now, Nippon and a few others.
UTI Mastershare was India’s first equity oriented mutual fund launched in October 1986 to which I had subscribed. You can check their site.

You join a job. Work for some organisation against salary. The organisation has some policies or a philosophy. You perform your duties, accordingly. But why should believe in them personally? A clear demarcation has to be there. Meaning of life must receive its due consideration.

Many in the middle class are proud of not being corrupt but they are oblivious of their massive intellectual corruption. By supporting a party or an ideology they become party to large-scale dishonesty and manipulation. Despite good education most tend to succumb and compromise.

Agree with you but apart from political aspect, religious and cultural narratives also play a big role. Removing sedimentation is a gigantic task. #SriAurobindo initiated such a process but it takes time to percolate. People must understand what's beneficial and what's pernicious

The formula is simple. You love yourself and the country but have become a prisoner of some false narrative. Muster courage to ask yourself whether what you have been believing all these years is true. Suspect the texts; that's the critical spirit. #SriAurobindo won't be far.

Apart from the advocates journalists and professors too enjoy intellectual freedom but past grounding remains a barrier. Accepting #SriAurobindo as the focal point of India's future is yet to dawn to most. This myopic understanding dictated by a perfunctory media needs to change.

Itś an error to imagine #SriAurobindo in the mould of his freedom struggle days. His priorities had transformed radically during his stay in Puducherry. Importantly, his relevance today is entirely different. India-centric portrayal or squeezing him to yoga is absolutely faulty.

People are aware of Darwin's theory of Evolution but aren't conversant with how #SriAurobindo explains it. Present state of mankind is not static; it's evolving but slowly. Sri Aurobindo postulates that descent of a Supramental force will lift humanity to a higher consciousness.
